Job description

Designs, develops, operates, and maintains embedded software and firmware components for safety-critical avionics systems. Applies engineering standards, processes, and tools across the full software development life cycle. Interfaces with customers, suppliers, application users, and cross-functional technical personnel.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Design, develop, test, and debug device drivers, boot loaders, and built-in-test libraries for safety-critical avionics mission computers
  • Develop in C targeting the LynxOS/LynxElement Real-Time Operating System (RTOS)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on software/FPGA/hardware interfaces
  • Integrate custom-designed hardware and FPGAs with software in a lab environment
  • Support documentation, error correction, and performance validation
  • Participate in certification activities including requirements and code reviews to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards

Requirements

  • Extensive embedded software development experience (16+ years with BS, or 14+ years with MS)
  • Proficiency in C programming for embedded/real-time environments
  • Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
  • Familiarity with device driver development and boot loader design
  • Experience supporting safety-critical or certifiable software systems
  • FPGA integration experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with LynxOS or LynxElement RTOS specifically
  • Background in avionics or defense systems
  • Familiarity with DO-178C or similar safety-critical certification standards, Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
