Job description
The UI/UX Designer will be responsible for creating a modern, mobile-first, accessible, and passenger-focused digital experience for a public-facing transportation website. This role involves translating user and business requirements into intuitive user journeys, wireframes, prototypes, visual designs, and reusable design system components to enhance usability and accessibility across multiple devices. Responsibilities:
- Conduct user and stakeholder research to develop personas and journey maps.
- Define information architecture and navigation structures.
- Create wireframes and interactive prototypes for mobile, tablet, and desktop experiences.
- Establish and maintain a reusable design system.
- Incorporate accessibility principles into all design decisions.
- Design interfaces for flight information, alerts, parking, transportation, maps, forms, search, and passenger services.
- Conduct usability testing and analyze results to improve designs.
- Present design concepts and solutions to stakeholders.
- Support design quality assurance during development phases.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human-computer interaction, interaction design, visual design, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Five or more years of UI/UX design experience.
- Experience designing large, responsive, content-rich public-facing websites.
- Proficiency in user research, information architecture, journey mapping, prototyping, usability testing, and design systems.
- Strong knowledge of WCAG accessibility principles applied to website design.
- Skills in user research, passenger/user journeys, responsive and mobile-first design, wireframing, prototyping, Figma, usability testing, visual hierarchy, interaction design, accessible design, stakeholder presentations, and developer collaboration.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience designing public-sector, transportation, travel, tourism, or service-oriented websites with real-time information, search, interactive maps, alerts, forms, accessibility, and mobile usability.
- Aviation website design experience within the last three years with project descriptions and links.
- Nielsen Norman Group UX Certification, Certified Usability Analyst, IAAP CPACC, Human-Centered Design certification, or equivalent UI/UX and accessibility credentials.
