Job description
As a Configuration Manager, the candidate will be responsible for maintaining detailed records of system configurations and diagrams, managing version control, implementing changes, and ensuring that all modifications are systematically documented. In this role, the candidate will oversee the implementation and maintenance of a Configurations Items (CI) List and associated Configurations Management Database (CMDB). This includes layouts of physical spaces as well as power and electrical diagrams for troubleshooting. In addition, the Configuration Manager will support changes for the Infrastructure Facility Rooms (IFRs), Telecommunication Rooms (TCRs) and Datacenter areas.
Major Activities
- Maintain, monitor and manage configuration database changes and updates.
- Oversee software and hardware version control.
- Ensure documentation of configuration changes; generate and present configuration status reports.
- Interface with internal and external departments to define configuration requirements.
- Develop configuration management policies and plans; conduct compliance audits.
- Lead configuration and change control board meetings.
- Track and manage configuration items and baselines while resolving configuration issues and providing technical support.
- Collaborate with project managers on configuration changes.
- Perform risk assessments for configuration changes.
- Support new configuration deployments with documentation and verification.
- Update configuration documentation and system diagrams.
- Conducts space and power surveys within the IT facilities to determine if capacity is available to support change requests.
- Prepare and submit customer change requests to government leadership for adjudication and approval.
- Perform other tasks as required by OSC program management.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Visio?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * Good interpersonal skills: ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff, affiliated-company employees as well as outside business associates; exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others.
- Demonstrated ability to support tasks through to completion with strong problem-solving skills.
- Superior organizational, follow-up, and detail-oriented skills.
- Work independently, as well as on a team and with minimal supervision.
- Make decisions, solve problems, and exercise excellent judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; including thorough knowledge of proper grammar, advanced vocabulary, spelling, editing and proofreading skills.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and industry-standard computer software and databases.
- High degree of sensitivity regarding confidential information.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business procedures, professional documents, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various groups (i.e., managers, clients, and customers)
Physical Abilities
- Sufficient fine motor skills for the use of computers, calculators with an ability to withstand repetitive keyboarding for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work in confined rack spaces.
- Visual and communications ability are adequate to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Ability to kneel, bend and twist at the waist on an occasional basis.
- Ability to reach below shoulder height with regular frequency (desk position) and at or above shoulder height on occasion.
- Ability to push, pull, carry and lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis, and greater weights on an occasional basis., * High school diploma with five or more years’ related experience
- Must have and maintain Secret Security Clearance
- Must have a valid SEC+ certification
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and Visio
- Experience with DoD environments
