Job description

We are seeking a talented Hardware Design Engineer II to join a multidisciplinary engineering team focused on developing advanced sensing, communication, signal processing, and electronic systems. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge technologies that support complex mission-critical applications across aerospace, defense, communications, and high-performance computing environments.

As part of the Hardware Engineering organization, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, Program Management, and Software Engineering to develop innovative hardware solutions throughout the full product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Participate in the complete product development lifecycle, from concept development and requirements definition through design, implementation, verification, production, and field support.

Design and develop complex digital hardware products and subsystems.

Translate system-level requirements into hardware architecture, detailed design, and validation plans.

Perform digital circuit design, simulation, schematic capture, integration, and testing.

Support development of FPGA-based designs, embedded processing systems, and high-speed digital interfaces.

Conduct hardware modeling, simulation, analysis, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

Develop and execute test plans to verify compliance with functional and performance requirements.

Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to resolve technical challenges and deliver high-quality solutions.

Support prototype bring-up, debugging, root-cause analysis, and production transition activities.

Provide technical leadership on small projects and mentor junior engineers as needed.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, along with 5+ years of experience in digital hardware design; or

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience.

Experience in digital circuit design, including simulation, schematic capture, integration, and testing.

Hands-on experience with prototyping, debugging, and validation of complex digital subsystems.

Experience working with FPGA-based designs, embedded processors, and/or high-speed interfaces.

Ability to translate system requirements into hardware design and verification specifications.

Experience leading small technical efforts or projects.

Familiarity with requirements management, configuration management, and revision control tools.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Extensive experience in digital electronics and embedded hardware development.

Experience designing hardware for aerospace, defense, telecommunications, industrial, or other highly regulated industries.

Knowledge of electronic sensing, signal processing, communication systems, or electronic warfare technologies.

Experience with PCB and circuit card design tools such as Cadence Allegro, Cadence Concept, Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, or Expedition.

Familiarity with requirements management and configuration control platforms such as DOORS, ClearCase, or similar tools.

Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor engineers, and collaborate across diverse teams.

Strong communication skills with experience presenting technical information to stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.

Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of solving complex engineering challenges in a fast-paced environment.
