Job description

The Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software systems that orchestrate robotic warehouse operations. This role contributes to the development of scalable, resilient, and high-performance applications that manage inventory movement, robot task execution, workstation operations, order fulfillment, and real-time decision making within automated distribution centers.

The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex operational problems and building software that directly impacts physical processes. They will work closely with Product Management, Robotics Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Customer Operations teams to deliver solutions that are reliable, observable, and scalable in production environments., Software Development

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications supporting warehouse automation operations.
  • Build services that coordinate:

o Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) fleets

o Inventory movement

o Order fulfillment workflows

o Workstation activities

o Warehouse resource allocation

o Task orchestration and routing

  • Develop scalable APIs, event-driven services, and user-facing applications.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
  • Participate in architecture and design reviews.

Distributed Systems Engineering

  • Build highly available microservices and event-driven systems.
  • Develop reliable communication between warehouse systems, robots, and external integrations.
  • Ensure systems can operate effectively under high transaction volumes.
  • Design for resiliency, fault tolerance, and graceful recovery.

Robotics Integration

  • Develop integrations between warehouse execution software and robotic fleet management systems.
  • Support task dispatching, route execution, status monitoring, and exception handling.
  • Collaborate with Robotics Engineering teams to improve operational efficiency.
  • Design software interfaces that support simulation, testing, and production deployments.

Operational Simulation & Testing

  • Partner with QA and Simulation Engineering teams to validate software using digital twin environments.
  • Participate in simulation-based testing and operational scenario validation.
  • Ensure software is testable and observable within simulated warehouse environments.
  • Support development of automated testing strategies.

Performance & Reliability

  • Monitor and optimize application performance.
  • Investigate production incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in on-call support rotations as required.
  • Analyze operational metrics and identify opportunities for system improvement.

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to technical roadmaps and architectural evolution.
  • Improve development processes, deployment pipelines, and engineering standards.
  • Evaluate new technologies and frameworks.
  • Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge across teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Java or Kotlin. Familiarity with Flutter/Dart also desirable.
  • Experience building distributed systems and APIs (Kafka, MQTT)
  • Experience with key value stores (Redis) and NOSQL.
  • Understanding of software design principles and architectural patterns.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills., * Experience with warehouse automation, logistics, supply chain, robotics, or industrial systems.
  • Experience building event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with real-time operational systems.
  • Familiarity with robotics platforms or fleet management systems.
  • Experience with simulation environments or digital twins.
  • Knowledge of optimization, routing, scheduling, or resource allocation systems.
