Network Engineer

• Implement the features and functionality of Gogo’s network & systems infrastructure
• Collaborate with other business units to meet a common goal
• Build solutions based on business requirements
• Track project tasks, provide status updates, and ensure assigned work is completed on schedule
• Troubleshoot network performance and connectivity issues
• Contribute to process improvements by researching, introducing, and adopting tools that improve reliability, automation, and operational efficiency
• Guide implementation of best practices for system design/development
• Contribute to a healthy, collaborative team environment through clear communication, ownership, and a strong work ethic
• Participate in scheduled maintenance windows and an on-call rotation to support the reliability and availability of critical production systems

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• 2-4 years in telecommunications, service provider, or information technology environments
• Experience working in a tiered support environment, including Tier 2 and Tier 3 support

Required Skills, Experience and Talents

• Understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking
• Has worked with, e.g network services. DNS, DHCP, AAA, TACACS, etc.
• Skilled with Linux administration
• Knowledge of virtualization, e.g. VMWare ESXi, KVM, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
• Experience with Python or shell scripting

Desirable Skills, Experience and Talents

• Experience with cloud service providers, including AWS and Azure
• Has worked with Cisco VxLAN (Nexus)
• Skilled with Ansible and/or Puppet
• Exposure to Git workflows, principles, and best practices
• Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools, including Grafana, Prometheus, Fluent, etc.
• Demonstrated passion for the open-source ecosystem
