Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Release of Information (ROI) Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will process patient health information requests, ensuring compliance with all applicable privacy laws and regulations as well and review records for redaction., * Review and process requests for medical records and health information from patients, legal entities, insurance companies, and other authorized parties.

  • Verify patient identity and authorization before releasing any protected health information (PHI).
  • Ensure all disclosures comply with healthcare privacy regulations such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and other relevant policies.
  • Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) platforms to locate, retrieve, and organize medical records efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records of all information requests, disclosures, and correspondence in accordance with records management protocols.
  • Collaborate with QA Team to ensure files are completed timely
  • Prioritize urgent requests related to legal proceedings, insurance claims, or continuity of care while adhering to established turnaround times.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook for documentation and communication purposes.
  • Experience reviewing medical records
  • Understanding of clinical confidentiality policies to safeguard patient information at all times.
  • Ability to navigate health information regulatory compliance standards confidently.
  • Skills in records management, data accuracy, and attention to detail to ensure complete documentation of all disclosures.
  • Expereince redacting is a MUST
