Job description
We’re hiring a full-stack engineer to build out gMS. You’ll be the second full-time engineer on the platform, working directly alongside our current gMS developer - which means real ownership from day one and a short path from idea to production.
The work spans the whole stack: designing and shipping new customer-facing features, improving the user interface our customers live in every day, building Python backend services for data analysis and system integration, and developing internal web applications end to end. gMS is built on ThingsBoard, so a meaningful part of the job is working effectively within - and sometimes around - the constraints of a third-party platform.
This is a role for someone with a pragmatic, ship-it mindset. We’re a small team, not a large engineering org: you’ll own features from design through deployment, make real architectural calls, and see your work running on hardware deployed in the field.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and ship new features across the gMS platform, from database to interface
- Improve the gMS user interface and overall user experience, working in HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript within the Angular framework
- Build and maintain Python backend services for data analysis, telemetry processing, and system integration
- Develop internal web applications end to end to support operations, support, and engineering teams
- Extend and customize ThingsBoard to meet product requirements, including integrations with third-party services and APIs
- Work with real-time and time-series data from battery systems deployed in the field
- Partner closely with our existing gMS developer and with the hardware and operations teams to define what gets built next
- Own your features through deployment, monitoring, and iteration
Requirements
- 3-6 years of professional full-stack development experience
- Strong Python and JavaScript/TypeScript - our current backend services are Python, and we’re open to the right tool for future work
- Solid front-end skills: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript in a modern component framework (Angular, React, or similar)
- Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Comfort working within the constraints of third-party platforms, and the judgment to know when to extend versus work around them
- A pragmatic, ship-it approach suited to a small team where you own features from design to deployment
- Ability to work on-site full time at our Pennsauken, NJ headquarters
Nice to Have
- Direct ThingsBoard experience
- Background in IoT, telemetry, or time-series data systems
- Experience with data visualization, mapping, or dashboard-heavy applications
- Exposure to energy storage, battery management, or industrial monitoring
- Experience building for enterprise or government customers

About the company
Gridless Power Corporation builds off-grid battery power and communications systems for enterprise and government customers. Our units keep security cameras, lights, speakers, alarms, and other critical devices running in places where grid power isn’t practical - construction sites, municipal deployments, schools, retail properties, utility infrastructure, and emergency response operations.
Every Gridless unit ships with gMS , our cloud-based remote management platform. gMS gives customers a single view of their fleet: site and unit maps, actionable alerts, system performance data, local weather and temperature conditions, real-time telemetry, and mobile access. It’s what takes our hardware from a battery to an intelligent, remotely serviceable system - and it’s the reason customers can troubleshoot from a desk instead of dispatching a technician.
