Job description
The Cloud Systems Specialist is responsible for designing, deploying, securing, and maintaining the organization’s cloud infrastructure. This role bridges systems administration and cloud engineering, ensuring high availability, scalability, security, and cost-efficiency of cloud-based environments (public, private, or hybrid)., * Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure across platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity; proactively resolve issues before they impact operations.
- Configure and maintain virtual machines, containers, storage, networking, and load balancers.
- Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
- Ensure cloud security best practices: IAM policies, encryption, firewalls, VPNs, and compliance standards (SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR as applicable).
- Set up and manage CI/CD pipelines to support DevOps workflows.
- Perform regular backups, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity testing.
- Optimize cloud spend through resource right-sizing, reserved instances, and cost-monitoring tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents related to cloud infrastructure, networking, and application performance.
- Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to support application deployment and scaling.
- Maintain detailed documentation of architecture, configurations, and standard operating procedures.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Regularly engage in sitting, standing, or walking activities.
- Occasionally handle lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling items of varying weights.
- Perform reaching, kneeling, crouching, bending, or twisting motions as needed.
- Other physical requirements may arise depending on job tasks.
- Work may be conducted at a desk or workstation situated in confined areas.
- Experience moderate levels of noise indoors and outdoors.
- Flexibility to work overtime and occasional weekends as required.
- Ability to thrive in both team-oriented settings and independently, demonstrating self-motivation and initiative.

- Identify potential safety hazards and take appropriate corrective actions.
- Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions in a timely manner.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of hands-on experience managing cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, load balancing, subnetting).
- Experience with Linux and/or Windows Server administration.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with scripting/automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Knowledge of security best practices and identity/access management., * Relevant cloud certifications (see below).
- Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments.
- Experience with monitoring/observability tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Exposure to DevOps practices and version control (Git).
- Experience with database systems (SQL/NoSQL) in cloud environments.
