Job description
A mission-driven nonprofit is hiring a Database Specialist. The Specialist will be assigned to lead a comprehensive database cleanup and data-quality project. This role will focus on reviewing, organizing, updating, and standardizing information within Virtuous, while ensuring the database is accurate, consistent, and properly maintained. This is a full-time, hybrid, temporary role based in Chicago, Illinois., * Conduct a comprehensive review and cleanup of the organization’s Virtuous database.
- Identify and correct duplicate, outdated, incomplete, or inconsistent records.
- Standardize contact information, constituent records, and other database fields.
- Review and update donor and constituent records to improve data accuracy and completeness.
- Establish consistent data-entry and database-maintenance practices.
- Review existing database structures and recommend improvements to support ongoing data integrity.
- Perform data quality checks and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with data imports, exports, and updates as needed.
- Document database cleanup activities, processes, and outstanding issues.
- Work closely with internal staff to clarify and verify database information.
- Maintain confidentiality of donor, constituent, and organizational information.
- Complete the project within the 3-6 month temporary assignment.
Requirements
Do you have 3+ years of database management experience?, Is This Your Dream Job? The ideal candidate will have strong nonprofit database or fundraising CRM experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage a high-volume data cleanup project., * 3-5 years of database management experience, preferably within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
- Experience working with a fundraising CRM or donor database; Virtuous experience is a plus, but experience with any fundraising CRM will be considered.
- Demonstrated experience with database cleanup, data integrity, deduplication, and record management.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to identify inconsistencies and proactively resolve data-quality issues.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.
- Ability to work independently and manage a high-volume, deadline-driven project.
Preferred Experience:
- Hands-on experience with Virtuous.
- Experience with fundraising or donor databases such as Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, Blackbaud, Bloomerang, DonorPerfect, EveryAction, or similar systems.
- Experience working with nonprofit fundraising or development teams.
- Experience with database migrations, data imports/exports, or CRM implementation projects.
Benefits & conditions
$30 - $35 an hour - Temporary, Full-time
