Job description

We have an exciting opportunity at the Department of State! The Enterprise Monitoring Engineer is responsible for the development and maintenance of the enterprise monitoring services supporting the hybrid VPC and global IT infrastructure for the customer., * The Engineering Monitoring Manager shall ensure effective use of enterprise monitoring tools (e.g., Oracle Enterprise Manager, Splunk, AppDynamics, Zabbix or equivalent) to provide comprehensive visibility, alerting, and dashboarding across on-premises and cloud environments.

  • You will develop integrated dashboard solutions that provide both program-level views for senior management and user-level views for operational and technical staff.
  • You will maintain the monitoring tools and processes that track system performance against established thresholds, enabling proactive alerting, integrated dashboards, and real-time visibility into the operational environment.
  • You will collect, analyze, and report on metrics including CPU/memory utilization, I/O, disk statistics, availability (uptime), and trending data across the customer IT environment.
  • Additionally, you will develop strategies to mitigate issues, improve efficiency, and align with the customer’s mission, objectives, and security posture. At a minimum, metrics shall include system availability, upgrade effectiveness, and cost/return on investment for new hardware and software.
  • You will establish and maintain thresholds for proactive alerting, coordinating with technical teams to ensure incident routing is effective and aligned with operational needs.
  • You will also ensure all operating environments are managed in accordance with an enterprise-wide monitoring strategy and proactively support adherence to Federal executive orders (e.g., M-21-31, M-22-09).
  • As the Enterprise Monitoring Engineer, you will provide monitoring support for non-production environments to identify development bottlenecks and address potential issues prior to production release., This position requires the ability to perform the below essential functions:
  • Sitting for long periods
  • Standing for long periods
  • Ambulate throughout an office
  • Ambulate between several buildings
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required
  • Repeatedly lift and carry weight up to 40 pounds
  • Travel by land or air transportation 25 % .

Requirements

The following are the education and experience required for this position:

  • 6+ years
  • Bachelor’s in IT or related field
  • Splunk Certified Admin (min. one); AppDynamics or OEM certs desired
  • Secret Security Clearance

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • COMP TIA Sec +; ITIL4 Foundation Certification(s)
