Job description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Amazon Route 53 provides highly available and scalable Domain Name System (DNS), domain name registration, and health-checking cloud services.

We operate worldwide, giving our customers an extremely reliable and cost-effective way to route end users to their applications. Combining Route 53 DNS with our health-checking services customers can route traffic to healthy endpoints or independently monitor and alarm on their endpoints.

As a manager on our team, you’ll help deliver new products and features, evolve and scale our architecture, and work closely with senior technical leaders within the team and across AWS. You’ll drive a culture that values operational excellence, security, customer obsession, and continuous improvement.

Key job responsibilities As a Route 53 Software Development Manager, you independently lead your team while setting a high bar across the entire development lifecycle-from design and documentation to testing and operations.

  • You represent your team autonomously with minimal guidance from management, understanding the long-term strategic direction for your systems.
  • By establishing effective mechanisms and structures, you enable your team to deliver complex distributed systems that power AWS’s global DNS service.
  • You strategically foster team growth by assigning- projects that expand skills and create advancement opportunities. When managing priorities, you balance customer needs with technical excellence, adjusting schedules to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Your strength lies in tackling ambiguity and proactively mitigating risks before they impact delivery. With deep understanding of Route 53’s products, systems, limitations, and architectural decisions, you make informed technical choices that support AWS’s critical infrastructure.
  • Throughout all aspects of leadership, you champion high-quality engineering practices that maintain Route 53’s reputation for exceptional reliability and performance.

About the team The Route 53 team builds and operates AWS’s highly available and scalable Domain Name System (DNS) service. We maintain critical internet infrastructure that routes billions of daily requests with 100% availability SLAs.
