Job description
We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our mechanical team. This role involves designing and developing an automated system to replace a series of manual testing processes. The position requires a hands-on approach to system development, from concept to implementation, ensuring efficiency and reliability for aviation test equipment., * Design, develop, and test automated systems to improve efficiency and reduce human error.
- Serve as a key member of a cross-functional team, transforming mechanical processes into an automated solution.
- Allocate resources and manage project components to ensure timely completion.
- Conduct tasks such as repairing wing flap sensors and taking measurements with benchtop electrical equipment.
- Ensure the automated system meets quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Create technical documentation and provide support and training for newly developed systems.
- Travel up to 25% to client sites as needed to support research, implementation, and training.
Requirements
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent engineering field is required.
Experience: 5-10 years of professional experience in Systems Engineering, including demonstrated experience transitioning a manual system to an automated one.
Technical Skills:
- Experience with CAD software.
- Proficiency with Jira, Altium, SolidWorks, and GitLab.
- Ability to read electrical schematics.
- Experience with hardware and software integration.
- Experience with design reviews and justifying development decisions in a risk-averse environment.
- Familiarity with developing systems based on requirements and performing verification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications in automation or mechanical engineering.
- Experience with automatic test systems (ATE) and test program sets (TPS) for aircraft systems.
- Expertise with digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, closed-loop servo systems, or AC/DC power supplies.
- Experience with C#, IBM DOORS, or CAMEO.
- Knowledge of US Air Force or Navy aviation maintenance organizational structures.
- Familiarity with product development through the entire production lifecycle.
- Knowledge of quality process standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or CMMI.
- Understanding of product life cycle management in accordance with IEEE 15288.
