Job description
Head of Data Science
- Lead, develop and mentor the Data Science team, building a high-performing function that delivers measurable business impact.
- Define and execute the Data Science strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and commercial priorities.
- Drive the delivery of data science products and solutions from concept through to implementation and adoption.
- Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities where data science can solve problems, improve performance and create value.
- Lead cross-functional teams, bringing together data, technology, operations and business stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.
- Remove project barriers and delivery bottlenecks, ensuring initiatives are prioritised effectively and executed at pace.
- Establish scalable operating models, governance frameworks and ways of working that improve productivity, quality and delivery.
- Manage stakeholder relationships, resource planning and team growth, ensuring the Data Science function remains a trusted partner to the wider business.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading and developing high-performing Data Science teams within a commercial environment.
- Strong track record of delivering data science, machine learning, and analytics solutions that generate measurable business value.
- Demonstrated ability to take products and projects from concept through to implementation, adoption, and ongoing optimisation.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing senior leaders and collaborating across business, technology, and operational teams.
- Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to prioritise initiatives based on business impact, return on investment, and strategic objectives.
- Experience building Data Science capabilities, operating models, and scalable ways of working within growing organisations.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a proven ability to remove obstacles and drive projects to successful delivery.
- Deep technical expertise in Data Science, machine learning, predictive analytics, and modern data technologies, combined with the ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear and practical way.

- Competitive salary ranging from £110,000 to £140,000, dependent on the level of experience.
