Job description
Role purpose: Lead the technology strategy, delivery, and operational excellence for payment platforms and services, ensuring secure, scalable, and compliant payment capabilities that support business growth and customer experience., * Own the end-to-end technology roadmap for payments, including architecture, integrations, and modernization.
- Manage delivery of payment solutions (e.g., card processing, ACH/SEPA, wallets, gateways, fraud tools) across the software lifecycle.
- Partner with Product, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and Operations to define requirements and ensure regulatory adherence (e.g., PCI DSS, PSD2, AML/KYC where applicable).
- Oversee vendor selection and management for payment processors, gateways, and fintech partners.
- Drive reliability and performance via SLAs, monitoring, incident management, and continuous improvement.
- Lead and develop engineering teams; establish agile practices, quality standards, and delivery metrics.
- Ensure strong security controls, data protection, and audit readiness for payment systems., This is an exciting time for you to join us, as we are aligning our capabilities and organisation to NN Daily Banking’s technology transformation. That means you will build and manage a team of some 20 experts, including software developers, information analysts and quality assurance engineers. In your team, you will create a culture of ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement. And as a member of the Daily Banking’s Technology Management Team, you will contribute to shaping and embedding our technology strategy. Your main responsibilities include:
- Liaising with the Payments domain Lead and translating the domain’s goals into a Technology roadmap and change portfolio. Ensuring alignment with the tech guardrails at bank and NN Group level, you will be responsible for the Payments domain’s entire technology lifecycle
- Identifying and fulfilling long-term staff needs, which includes matching your team’s skills and capabilities to the demands of emerging technologies
- End-to-end management of the Payments domain’s products, securing 24/7 availability, performance and stability. And you ensure that deliverables meet client and business needs, while meeting our own strict quality standards
- Managing IT vendors and stakeholders. A crucial part of your role is monitoring and securing vendor SLA compliance, which is critical to our 24/7 operations. In addition, you will liaise with the Payments domain’s stakeholders to identify needs, prioritise activities, and manage expectations
- Control and risk management, driving cybersecurity, resilience and stability. You instil risk awareness in your team and vendors. And you harness the latest technologies to mitigate risks, while ensuring compliance with the strict banking industry regulations, including DORA. By providing leadership during emergencies, you minimise business disruption, You thrive on working at the intersection of IT operations, innovation and business strategy in a highly regulated environment. Harnessing your strategic oversight and uncovering underlying business needs, you know how to define strong actionable roadmaps with clear deliverables. And you leverage your communication and stakeholder management skills to interact effortlessly with technical and non-technical stakeholders across the business, technology, risk and vendors.
Requirements
- Proven leadership in payment technology, platform engineering, or fintech systems.
- Deep knowledge of payment flows, authorization/settlement, reconciliation, chargebacks, and risk/fraud concepts.
- Experience with APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, and integration patterns.
- Operational expertise: observability, SRE/DevOps practices, incident response, and change management.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and vendor negotiation skills.
Success measures
- Improved payment uptime, latency, and transaction success rates.
- Reduced fraud losses and operational defects while maintaining compliance.
- On-time delivery of roadmap initiatives with measurable business impact., * At least 5 years of technology management experience in the Dutch banking industry. This provides you with the oversight you need in this demanding environment
- Proven experience in end-to-end IT operations and an excellent understanding of what it takes to manage reliable, high-performance 24/7 value chains
- A strong understanding of the demands that Daily banking processes put on IT, ranging from IT risk management and control frameworks to regulatory requirements
- Extensive experience in IT vendor management, SaaS deployment and SLA performance monitoring
- The management skills needed to inspire and develop teams, and drive resounding results
