Job description
The Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements. Works individually or as part of a team. Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. Resolves software problem reports. Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components
Due to federal contract requirements, United States Citizenship and position appropriate security clearance is required. (e.g. Active TS/SCI security clearance with agency appropriate polygraph).
Capabilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications using Spring Boot and modern software engineering best practices.
- Develop scalable RESTful APIs and backend services supporting mission-critical applications and high-performance enterprise systems.
- Design, optimize, and troubleshoot relational database solutions using MariaDB and other enterprise database technologies.
- Support application modernization initiatives through containerization, Kubernetes deployments, and continuous improvements to system architecture.
- Participate in technical design sessions, architecture discussions, code reviews, troubleshooting, and Agile software development activities.
- Develop and maintain automated testing solutions and GitLab CI/CD pipelines to improve software quality, deployment efficiency, and operational reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams using Jira and Confluence while supporting the complete software development lifecycle., * Experience developing Java enterprise applications using Spring Boot or similar modern frameworks.
- Experience developing RESTful APIs and working with relational databases such as MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or similar technologies.
- Experience with container technologies (Docker or Podman), Kubernetes, or other modern application deployment platforms.
- Experience working in Agile development environments using Git-based source control, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing practices.
Desired Technical Skills
- Experience developing Angular or other modern web applications.
- Experience with microservices architecture, application modernization, or cloud-native software development.
- Experience implementing GitLab CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps best practices.
- Experience tuning SQL performance and supporting high-volume enterprise applications.
- Experience using Jira and Confluence to support Agile software development.
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills across application, database, and deployment technologies.
- Experience supporting enterprise software within secure or classified environments.

Requirements
- TS/SCI with agency appropriate poly
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university. Candidates without Bachelors degrees will require an additional 4 years of software engineering experience.
- Minimum of twelve (12) years of software engineering experience on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
Benefits & conditions
$52.46 - $120.27 an hour
Pay Range: $52.46 - $120.27 per hour*
Hourly pay rates listed for this position serve as a general guideline and are not a guarantee of compensation. Compensation will vary dependent upon factors including but not limited to: Government contract rates; education; relevant prior work experience, knowledge, skills, and competencies; certifications, and geographic location. *Hourly pay rates reflect the pre-benefit gross wage amounts.
