Job description

The Content and Generative AI Exploration team works on the Central Search Content Platform to enable broader Search’s experiences with AI generated content. As Principal Engineer, you will build horizontal content understanding leveraging AI technology, ensuring a consistent experience across Google surfaces. Furthermore, you will focus on the new GenAI experience and explore features or directions that will be essential to the user journey. You will transform the Search Content Platform to be the best knowledge resource with the ability to generate brand new multi-modality insights and empower the Search Product to be the world’s most proactive, personal, and conversational knowledge companion.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $307000 - $427000 (USD) + 30% bonus target + equity + benefits, * Contribute significantly to Search’s strategic roadmap.

  • Develop and deploy GenAI technology to empower Content understanding and AI Generated Content framework.
  • Conduct applied research on new GenAI techniques to explore the new content experience and direction.
  • Work with adjacent teams (Research, Search, Ads, etc.) to integrate new GenAI technology into our Content products and services.
  • Contribute to the outlook and technical roadmap of Search Content Platform’s next generation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in software engineering, with experience building technical products and services.
  • 10 years of experience in developing and deploying models using deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, or JAX), * Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related field.
  • Development experience with AI-centered product features. Experience with the leadership of a user-facing product effort.
  • Experience in successfully applying GenAI and machine learning approaches to real-world content problems.
  • Excellent mathematical skills with knowledge of statistical methods.
  • Ability to influence outside lines of formal authority, working on and with technical and cross-functional or highly matrixed teams to get things done.
