Job description

The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) is currently seeking a Data Analyst to join our Psychometrics team. In this role, the Data Analyst provides analytic/research support to Psychometricians and Assessment & Research staff through data management, data dissemination, and statistical analysis., Reporting to the Manager, Psychometric Data Analysis, the Data Analyst has the following responsibilities:

  • Perform routine processing (data validation, calibration, equating, and scoring) for Item Response Theory and Classical Test Theory exams.
  • Perform data analyses in statistical software (SAS and R). Support code repository quality and maintenance.
  • Run Automated Test Assembly software and provide initial evaluation of results.
  • Perform statistical analyses for quantitative/qualitative research projects related to ABIM assessments.
  • Provide analytical support for departments within the Assessment & Research division.
  • Generate accurate psychometric reports, tables, and visualizations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure data accuracy and completeness in internal databases. Sustain knowledge of database structures, systems, data, and analytic processes. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation.
  • Participate in project management, quality improvement, and user acceptance testing.

Requirements

The ideal candidate has an undergraduate degree in a related field of study with at least three years of relevant experience in data analysis and management. A master’s degree in measurement, statistics, biostatistics, quantitative psychology, health services research, public health, or a related field is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will have a proven ability to extract data from large databases and files for statistical analysis and report generation and interpretation, along with strong working experience with statistical software (SAS and R) and experience with the MS suite of programs. A detail-oriented individual with the capacity to master database query language (SQL, PL/SQL, and PROC SQL), strong quantitative analytical and research skills, and an understanding of basic research methodology and survey instrument design will thrive in this role. The candidate must also have the ability to work independently with limited supervision and demonstrate a consistent commitment to working effectively across the organization. The ability to assess priorities and adjust work schedules appropriately in order to meet deadlines is a must. In addition, experience with classical test theory and item response theory (calibration, equating, and scoring) is strongly preferred.

This role is based in our offices at 510 Walnut Street, Philadelphia PA, with the ability to work remotely three days a week. Our technology and facility teams provide and support a seamless hybrid work environment for all employees.
