Head, Collection Management & Assessment Librarian

The Head of Collection Management and Assessment Librarian oversees the library’s acquisitions and collection development processes and leads collection assessment initiatives. The position manages, monitors, and reports on all aspects of the library’s budget, ensuring effective and responsible allocation of resources. The position also oversees interlibrary loan and resource sharing services in collaboration with the Metadata and Resource Management Librarian and supervises the Electronic Resources Librarian, Library Digital Technologies Administrator, and Library Assistant. The Head of Collection Management and Assessment Librarian also contributes to library planning, policy development, assessment, and professional activities in support of the University’s academic mission., * Manages all functions and supervises library staff integral to the operation of the Acquisitions Department by:

• Implementing acquisitions policies and procedures in accordance with sound financial and professional standards.
• Developing priorities for departmental workflow and maintaining the timely processing of orders and invoices.
• Supervises the Electronic Resources Librarian in the management of database and electronic resource subscriptions, including pricing negotiations and license reviews.
• Overseeing interlibrary loan and resource sharing services jointly with the Metadata and Resource Management Librarian.
• Supervises the Digital Technology Administrator in the management of library systems configurations.
• Participating in the selection and training of departmental staff.
• Communicating effectively with staff concerning department workflow and library operations.
• Manages, monitors and reports on all aspects of the Library’s budget by:
• Approving all expenditures for purchases up to authorized spending limits.
• Ensuring efficient spending of allocated funds.
• Providing budget reports to the Dean of the Library.
• Reviewing Banner financial reports for accuracy.
• Collaborating with the Dean of the Library and the Budget Office on problems associated with accounts or allocations.
• Oversees the collection development process by:
• Communicating with librarians and faculty on publishing trends, available sources, and processing cycles.
• Coordinating with liaison librarians to ensure appropriate selection of library materials in support of the University’s curriculum.
• Evaluating gifts-in-kind.
• Overseeing the withdrawal of materials.
• Ensuring a balanced collection and effective budget allocation process in consultation with liaison librarians.
• Participating as an ex officio member on the University’s Curriculum Committee to ensure the allocation of appropriate fiscal support for new academic programs.
• Participates in the professional work of the Library by:
• Assisting in the discussion and formulation of library policies and procedures and in problem resolution.
• Assisting in the development of the Library’s annual operating plan.
• Compiling relevant statistics for outside surveys and departmental reviews.
• Cooperating with other librarians to provide service and assistance according to Library objectives.
• Monitors developments in librarianship and higher education through attendance at meetings and workshops, membership in professional associations, and reading of professional literature.

• Master’s degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science
• 5 - 8 year’s of relevant experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
