Job description

HealthPartners is hiring an Application Analyst and Developer - Epic Inpatient. This role supports and enhances Epic Inpatient applications, with a focus on provider order entry, clinical workflows, and system build activities. Ideal candidates will bring hands-on experience in acute care settings, either through clinical practice (e.g., RN, SLP, CST) or through prior Epic Inpatient build/support work. Experience with any of the applications this team supports (ClinDoc, Orders, ASAP, Stork, Rover, Care Management, Long Term Care, Bugsy, Unified Communications, Utilization Management, Hospital Outpatient Department) and/or Refuel is strongly preferred.

This position is responsible for ensuring business, functional, and technical requirements are thoroughly analyzed, defined, and documented to support application enhancements and system changes. The individual in this role leads the design, development, documentation, and implementation of complex application modifications while evaluating their integration within HealthPartners’ broader application architecture.

In addition, this role serves as a technical resource for IT Business Partners and other IT teams, providing guidance on system development and implementation processes. The position also mentors developers and analysts, fostering technical growth and supporting best practices across the team.

This position reports to a Manager, IT Care Delivery Applications and is part of a collaborative team of twenty professionals dedicated to supporting and advancing HealthPartners’ care delivery technology solutions., * Assesses, designs, builds, and deploys software and new application functionality.

  • Performs unit testing and directs and partners in system and end-user test planning and testing.
  • Maintains testing environment and data requirements within the test environment.
  • Analyzes functional and technical requirements for changes or enhancements and prepares system designs and specifications.
  • Diagnoses system failures, corrects issues, and assesses the issue to recommend actions to prevent re-occurrence of the problem.
  • Defines technical specifications based on business requirements; consults with Business Partners regarding technical possibilities and limitations.
  • Assists IT’s Business Partners with clarifying and prioritizing service requests.
  • Identifies the need for and recommends standard processes, procedures, and best practices.
  • Provides training, professional support and mentoring to Application Developers and other Analysts.
  • Supports third party application software; interacts with vendors regarding problems, upgrades schedules, and software installations.
  • Provides requested documentation and interviews with auditors and third-party requestors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three (3) years of experience in IT analysis, systems analysis, and technical design
  • One (1) years of experience developing, testing, and implementing application or system enhancements.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Solid understanding of system architecture, infrastructure, and application integration concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, and translate business and technical requirements into effective solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong technical documentation and technical writing skills
  • Experience leading medium-sized projects and coordinating work across stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of multiple system development methodologies
  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call support rotation for areas of assigned responsibility., * Eight or more (8+) years of experience in IT analysis, systems analysis, and technical design
  • Five or more (5+) years of technical experience supporting healthcare, health plan, or managed care operations and systems is strongly preferred.
  • Epic Certification is strongly preferred in at least one of the following applications: EpicCare Inpatient Procedure Orders, Order Transmittal, Clinical Documentation, SmartForms, ASAP, Behavioral Health, Bugsy Infection Control, Clinical Case Management, Hospital Outpatient Departments, Long Term Care, MyChart Bedside, Inpatient Rehab, Stork, Rover, Security, Unified Communications or experience working in a Hospital Setting for design and build of Epic Order Sets.
  • Strong knowledge of the Epic Foundation System build and workflows.
  • Experience developing, supporting, or troubleshooting applications using MUMPS, PowerShell, or SQL.

Benefits & conditions

  • Monday-Friday; Core business hours
  • Participates in a team-based on-call rotation to provide after-hours support and ensure the ongoing stability and performance of supported applications. The on-call schedule typically includes day shift coverage approximately once every seven business days, weekday after-hours coverage approximately once every fourteen business days, and weekend coverage approximately once per quarter.

Compensation Range:

This position is available at an intermediate, senior, or principal level, depending on qualifications.

  • Intermediate Application Analyst and Developer - $36.37 - $54.55 hourly
  • Senior Application Analyst and Developer - $46.06 - $69.10 hourly
  • Principal Application Analyst and Developer - $51.85 - $77.77 hourly
  • Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role. Pay within our ranges may also be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities as well as internal equity. Hired candidates may be eligible to receive additional compensation based on role (e.g., shift differential, bonus, sales incentive, productivity pay, etc.).
