About the company

AWS Elastic Beanstalk is looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer (SDE3) to help build and extend the service. Elastic Beanstalk is how developers get an application running on AWS without becoming infrastructure experts - you upload your code, and we handle capacity provisioning, load balancing, auto scaling, and application health monitoring.

Our team builds the orchestration system at the center of the service: the public API, the workflow system that provisions and mutates customer environments, the health monitoring subsystem, the eventing pipeline, and the AWS Console experience. We are also in the middle of the most significant architectural expansion in the service’s history - extending Elastic Beanstalk to run on Kubernetes and EKS, while continuing to support the millions of environments already running on our classic architecture. Doing both at once, without customer disruption, is a genuinely hard distributed systems problem.

If you are someone who is passionate about building high quality services, delighting developers, and reducing the distance between “I have code” and “it’s running in production,” this job is for you. You will be joining a small team where an SDE3 has real design ownership from day one - you will lead design and implementation efforts on services used at AWS scale, and act as a force multiplier for the engineers around you.
