Job description

  • Lead the production of user-centred software, ensuring development follows business requirements and best practice.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to explore, design, and deliver solutions to complex client problems.
  • Take ownership of software development and deployment pipelines, resolving issues and potential bottlenecks.
  • Communicate and present prototypes, solutions, and progress to internal and external stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Mentor and coach other engineers to support their professional development.
  • Deliver Kotlin development services to our clients as a Senior Consultant.
  • Lead by example and ensure technical excellence within squads and the engineering community.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in Kotlin and the JVM.
  • Strong experience in Java and the full development lifecycle delivering user-centred digital solutions.
  • Exposure to Node.js, TypeScript, Express.js, or Nunjucks.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality, robust, and scalable solutions.
  • Expertise in building back-end services using Spring Boot and the wider Spring Framework.
  • Experience in microservices design and architecture, including RESTful API services.
  • Strong knowledge of public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and DevOps practices including containerisation with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps.
  • Previous experience working on government or NHS projects, or in a consultancy environment, is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Kafka or other asynchronous messaging systems is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Helm is desirable.
