Job description

A Data Protection Lead is required for our Government client to provide expert privacy by design and data protection leadership across the client’s specific business area. You will work closely with product, technical, legal, security and policy teams to ensure that privacy is Embedded into the design and operation of services from the outset. You will also act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, enabling innovative delivery whilst ensuring compliance with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and related legislation., As the Data Protection Lead, you will provide expert privacy and data protection leadership across the clients specific business area. You will work closely with product, technical, legal, security and policy teams to ensure that privacy is Embedded into the design and operation of services from the outset. You will act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders, enabling innovative delivery while ensuring compliance with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and related legislation. To lead the delivery of privacy-by-design across products, services and programmes. Provide expert advice on UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, PECR and wider privacy obligations. Lead and assure complex Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new products, technologies and business change initiatives. Advise on complex areas of data protection, including identity assurance, biometric processing, artificial intelligence, analytics, data sharing and transparency. Support the development of privacy notices, data sharing agreements, governance artefacts and risk assessments. Identify, assess and manage data protection risks, ensuring that appropriate mitigations and governance arrangements are in place. Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across delivery, policy, legal, security and operational teams. Prepare high-quality briefings, recommendations and governance papers for senior leaders and programme boards.

Requirements

As the Data Protection Lead, you will be skilled in practicing privacy by design and undertaking DPIA’s in digital delivery contexts. You will be required to write DPIA’s and so need to possess relevant hands-on experience. You will also have experience of working on digital projects too.

The key technical skills/areas for this role focus on: Experience with transformation or digital type projects on a large scale, ideally within the Government sector Privacy/data privacy technology experience, having worked with developers/software engineers. Experience embedding privacy by design in those areas, together with strong stakeholder management experience and good interpersonal skills Possess good GDPR knowledge and experience Hold a Data Protection and Privacy qualification such as IAPP, CIPP/E or CIPM or have relevant experience Expert knowledge of data protection law together with demonstrable experience of applying privacy by design and proportionate compliance in complex digital services. Proficient in M365 To possess previous experience of working on large transformation projects or have worked previously within digital/technical areas due to this being a very technical role as you will be working alongside developers and data architects. A background in digital product delivery is desirable

Duration: 6 months Rate: \u00a3650 per day Location: Hybrid - Predominantly remote with just occasional travel to the client site as/when required (choice of locations) IR35 Status: Inside Start: ASAP.
