Job description

The Command, Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a crucial component of the Missile Defense System. It is an essential operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor the battle, and actively control networked sensors and weapon systems to meet global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC provides layered missile defense capabilities that enable a well-coordinated response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations, both regionally and worldwide, to enhance performance. C2BMC is vital for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.

The chosen candidate will join a team that reports to the C2BMC Watch Officer (CWO) and is responsible for daily system monitoring, operations, and maintenance of the C2BMC systems within a 24/7 operations and test environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide first-level technical support to the warfighter and perform initial troubleshooting of all local C2BMC hardware, software, and networks

  • Document and report all events and issues to the CWO and receive tasking and direction from the CCC for all operations, tests, and real-world events

  • Assist with all hardware and software installations as directed by the local SMEs and create and maintain user accounts as directed by the local ISSO

  • Operate and sustain the C2BMC mission systems and/or training systems environment for operational and training missions supported by C2BMC’s presence in the Missile Defense Integration & Operations Center (MDIOC)

  • Provide training systems support to include operating as necessary the Distributed Training System (DTS) Control Center (DCC) to train, qualify, certify, and maintain Warfighter proficiency at operating locations

  • Responsible for administering, managing and monitoring both systems hardware and software in a complex, heterogeneous computing environment consisting of Sun Solaris, Unix, Windows systems/servers and Cisco, Juniper and other network components

  • The role involves rotating through a 24/7 shift schedule. The candidate will work a 12-hour shift, with the exact timing depending on mission requirements

  • Additional coverage during off shifts, such as nights and weekends, might be needed on a rotating substitute basis
