Job description

We’re looking for a Java Tech Lead to guide the design, development, and delivery of scalable, high-performance backend systems. In this role, you’ll combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership - setting architectural direction, mentoring engineers, and ensuring our systems are robust, secure, and built to scale. You’ll work closely with product managers, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams to turn business requirements into resilient, well-engineered software., * Lead the design and development of complex, distributed Java-based applications and microservices

Define technical architecture and make key design decisions in partnership with senior engineering and architecture teams
Write high-quality, well-tested, maintainable code and set the technical bar for the team
Conduct thorough code reviews, enforce engineering best practices, and drive continuous improvement in code quality
Mentor and coach a team of engineers, providing technical guidance and supporting their career growth
Own end-to-end delivery of features, from technical design through deployment and production support
Collaborate with DevOps/SRE teams to ensure systems are observable, resilient, and performant in production
Drive adoption of modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, test automation, and infrastructure-as-code
Partner with product managers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
Identify technical debt and proactively lead initiatives to improve system reliability, security, and performance
Participate in sprint planning, architecture reviews, and other agile ceremonies, providing technical thought leadership

Requirements

8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with deep expertise in Java (Java 11+)
Strong experience with Spring Framework / Spring Boot and building RESTful microservices
Proven experience leading technical design and architecture for large-scale, distributed systems
Solid understanding of design patterns, object-oriented principles, and clean code practices
Hands-on experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra)
Experience with messaging/streaming systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar)
Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and version control (Git)
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience mentoring or leading engineering teams
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, * Experience working in an agile, fast-paced product development environment
Familiarity with event-driven architecture and domain-driven design
Experience with observability tooling (Splunk, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
Background in fintech, financial services, or other highly regulated industries
Security-first mindset with experience implementing secure coding practices
