Job description

As a Store Operations Specialist focused on Systems and Operations, you will play an important role in making store operations easier, more consistent, and more effective for store teams. You will partner closely with the Store Support team, along with other internal business partners and external vendors to support business systems, improve processes, troubleshoot issues, and help bring system and operational enhancements to life.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, translating operational needs into practical solutions, and supporting the tools and processes that store teams rely on every day. The Specialist will develop business requirements, conduct user acceptance testing, support key operational tasks, and create clear store communications, job aids, and training materials that help drive successful execution in the field.

Success in this role requires strong communication skills, curiosity, attention to detail, systems knowledge, and the ability to build productive partnerships across teams. This position offers the opportunity to influence how stores work, improve the associate experience, and help create simpler, smarter ways of operating.

This role is in-person at our Hingham, MA headquarters and includes occasional weekend work to support technical issues, reporting and critical store issues.

The impact you can have

  • System Testing and Validation: Create and execute detailed test scripts/plans to ensure system functionalities meet the established business requirements.
  • Support and Issue Resolution: Serve as a resource for store users by addressing inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and resolving system and operational concerns promptly.
  • System Access Management: Handle duties such as granting system access and managing the Workforce Management Application and Reports.
  • Communication: Own weekly operational reporting and partner with the Communications Team to deliver clear, timely updates related to operational activities and system changes.
  • Operations Coordination: Support day-to-day operational tasks, identify opportunities for improvement, and help implement process enhancements that make store execution simpler and more consistent.
  • Rotating Weekend Responsibilities: Support scheduled weekend coverage by managing Sunday payroll processing for stores and providing timely responses to store emails to help maintain continuity for store teams.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in systems and operations, preferably within a retail environment.

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of business requirement development, system testing, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with Workforce Management Applications and reporting tools.

  • Vendor Management: Experience in working with vendors and serving as a liaison for projects and issue resolution.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear field communications and coordinate with various business areas.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.

  • Customer Experience: Knowledge of customer service principles and the ability to enhance systems to improve the customer experience.

  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Dayforce or similar workforce management software, including support and maintenance responsibilities.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Availability for scheduled weekend coverage, particularly for payroll processing, critical systems issues and critical store impacts.

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of business requirement development, system testing, and troubleshooting. This position works on-site at least 4 days per week consistent with the needs of the business at our Talbots office location in Hingham, MA.
