Job description
- Maintain various applications for city departments, including application upgrades and patch maintenance.
- Develop and maintain related applications and interfaces.
- Gather business requirements and document specifications for the development of applications, reports, and interfaces.
- Migrate and test the implementation of business applications from a .net domain to a .gov domain.
- Implement and enforce processes for application migration, testing, and support maintenance.
- Provide production support for business applications, technical environments, and interfacing systems.
- Prioritize and assign target completion dates for fixes and change orders in concurrence with users and team members.
- Follow existing business processes and operational guidelines.
- Follow through on project development and production issues to ensure resolution and proper root-cause analysis.
- Coordinate with staff and software vendors regarding application support, incidents, and issue resolution.
- Support 24x7 business operations and be available onsite during business hours.
Requirements
Education: A college degree, preferably in the fields of Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
Experience: A minimum of two years of work experience as an applications developer using C#, .NET, Java or any object-oriented programming language, and a minimum of two years of hands-on coding experience in SQL.
Technical Skills: Knowledgeable with relational databases such as MS SQL Server or Oracle. Must have problem-solving, troubleshooting, and organization skills. Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and documentation skills are required. The ability to learn quickly and adapt to a multi-platform technical environment is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure or experience with reporting tools such as Power BI, Crystal Reports, or Cognos.
- Exposure to web application packaging and/or using tools like Docker.
