Job description

Herdt Consulting is seeking an experienced Navy ERP Data Cleansing / DDEF SME to support the Financial Improvement and Audit Remediation program. This role will investigate and resolve Defense Departmental Reporting Error File (DDEF) conditions associated with MILSTRIP and Defense Travel System (DTS) transactions, improve financial data quality, and support accurate, auditable processing within Navy ERP., * Investigate and resolve DDEF errors associated with MILSTRIP Auto-Obligation Dashboard, Fuel Cockpit, Carcass, and Travel Tier 1/Tier 3 (DTS) activity.

  • Perform root-cause analysis by tracing transactions from feeder systems and source documentation through Navy ERP posting and error-processing workflows.
  • Research incomplete, inaccurate, rejected, or unmatched financial transactions and coordinate corrective actions with functional, technical, and business stakeholders.
  • Reconcile source data, interface activity, and Navy ERP financial postings to validate data integrity and successful error resolution.
  • Develop and execute repeatable data-cleansing procedures, validation steps, and quality-control checks.
  • Document findings, correction methods, recurring error patterns, and remediation status to support auditability and process improvement.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or another relevant discipline * Experience: 10+ years of relevant professional experience, * Hands-on Navy ERP experience supporting financial transaction research, error resolution, data cleansing, or reconciliation.

  • Experience researching DDEF conditions and resolving transaction-level data or posting errors.
  • Knowledge of MILSTRIP and/or DTS financial transactions and their relationship to Navy ERP.
  • Working knowledge of SAP FI/FM concepts, financial documents, account assignments, and posting outcomes.
  • Ability to trace transactions across feeder systems, interfaces, reports, and ERP records.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and cross-functional communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with MILSTRIP Auto-Obligation Dashboard, Fuel Cockpit, or Carcass processing.
  • Experience supporting Navy financial improvement, audit remediation, or FIAR initiatives.
  • Familiarity with data-quality metrics, dashboards, and repeatable remediation controls.
