Job description

Under the direction of the Technology Director, this position provides advanced technical systems support, including the planning, design, installation, maintenance, administration and problem detection/resolution of hardware and software technology assets, with specific focus on third tier technical support., 1. Be able to perform essential functions and duties of Technology Support Specialist I and II, including the ability to install, configure, diagnose, repair, service and maintain desktop computer systems, servers, network devices, and peripherals for multiple hardware platforms, including both hardware and software related issues.

  1. Deliver level III escalation support and assistance to Technology Support Specialist I and II team members.
  2. Provide intermediate to advanced level support for Network (LAN/WAN) equipment including, routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points (WAPs), wireless controllers, etc.
  3. Design, plan, Install, configure, maintain, and operate district file servers, enterprise applications (curriculum), Domain Controllers (Active Directory), and other servers as directed.
  4. Provide Intermediate to advanced administration support for Windows and Apple directory services including adding, changing, and deleting of directory objects (users, groups, computers, printers, etc.).
  5. Develop tools and scripts to assist in the automation of routine, repetitive tasks, reports, data manipulation, systems management, and other assigned tasks as needed.
  6. Assist with Virtual Machine planning, design, creation and management under the direction of Technology Director.
  7. Provide support to end users and other technology team members by telephone, email, help desk ticket system or other mediums as directed.
  8. Assist with VOIP/Telephony design planning, installation, configuration, and administration as assigned.
  9. Maintain inventory system of district server and network technology assets based on building assignments, including logging of troubleshooting and repairs.
  10. Ability to image, install, configure, update, and maintain, desktop, and server systems and peripherals using enterprise systems management tools.
  11. Assist in the maintenance of the district and department level websites.
  12. Escalate higher level support issues to Technology Director and vendor support teams.
  13. Document all support related issues via help desk ticketing system for tracking and record keeping purposes.
  14. Attend district and department level meetings, including required training sessions.
  15. Be project lead for various technology projects including those related to enterprise systems, software, and network implementations.
  16. Be technical advisor to Technology Director and other district leaders as needed.
  17. Other duties as assigned by the Technology Director., * Occasionally: sit, lift and/or carry up to 65 lbs. * Frequently: lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs; bend, squat, crawl, climb, reach above shoulder level and twist. * Continuously: stand, walk, lift and/or carry up to 20 lbs. * On a frequent basis, will be required to use both left and right hands for repetitive action such as grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulating.

Requirements

  1. Associate degree in a related technology field or at least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in systems administration, server administration, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as determined by the Technology Director. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  2. Knowledge of PC troubleshooting and repair for both Windows and Macintosh platforms.
  3. Advanced understanding of PC hardware, peripherals, and local area network operations.
  4. Advanced knowledge of Windows Server (Active Directory) and Apple (Open Directory) Directory Services, including experience with file, print, and application server administration.
  5. Desired experience with enterprise systems and network management applications (SCCM, Intune, Mosyle, SolarWinds, etc.).
  6. Associate level, industry certifications from CompTIA, Microsoft, and/or Cisco desired
  7. Previous experience with scripting applications and methodology (DOS Batch, PowerShell, VB, etc.) desired.
  8. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Virtual Machine creation and management (Hyper-V, VMWare, Proxmox) desired.
  9. Ability to read and apply technical service-related information from various sources.
  10. Possess aptitude to carry out oral and written directions from Technology Director and/or assigned technical lead.
  11. Adjust to new assignments and a variety of working conditions, including effective task prioritization and independent task completion.
  12. Proven ability to relate with staff, coworkers, and other end users regarding computer technology.
  13. Prioritize and assign work orders/tickets/tasks, resolve problems and anticipate tasks to be completed with minimum supervision and guidance.
  14. Must possess a valid Washington State driver’s license and a good driving record.
  15. Must furnish one’s own transportation.
  16. Must be committed to on-going training for the maintenance of technical skills expected.
  17. Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail to meet deadlines during extremely critical times.
  18. Must have excellent attendance.
  19. Other duties as assigned., * Ability to successfully complete a skills assessment and/or practical demonstration if selected for interview
