Job description
Under the direction of the Technology Director, this position provides technical systems support, including the installation, maintenance, administration and problem detection/resolution of hardware and software technology assets, with primary focus on network and server systems., 1. Be able to perform essential functions and duties of Technology Support Specialist I, including the ability to install, configure, diagnose, repair, service and maintain desktop computer systems and peripherals for multiple hardware platforms (PC and MAC), including both hardware and software related issues.
- Deliver level II escalation support and assistance to Technology Support Specialist I team members.
- Provide basic to intermediate level support for Network (LAN/WAN) equipment including, routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points (WAPs), wireless controllers, etc.
- Backup support role to Technology Support Specialist III - Network.
- Develop tools and scripts to assist in the automation of routine, repetitive tasks, reports, data manipulation, network management, and other assigned tasks as needed.
- Assist with Network installation and management under the direction of Technology Director and/or Technology Support Specialist III - Network.
- Provide support to end users and other technology team members by telephone, email, help desk ticket system or other mediums as directed.
- Assist with VOIP/Telephony installation, configuration, and administration as assigned.
- Maintain inventory system of district technology assets based on building assignments, including logging of troubleshooting and repairs.
- Ability to image, install, configure, update, and maintain, desktop and server systems and peripherals using enterprise systems management tools.
- Assist in the maintenance of the district and department level websites.
- Escalate higher level support issues to III Technology Support Specialists for resolution.
- Document all support related issues via help desk ticketing system for tracking and record keeping purposes.
- Attend district and department level meetings, including required training sessions.
- Other duties as assigned by the Technology Director., * Occasionally: sit, lift and/or carry up to 65 lbs. * Frequently: lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs; bend, squat, crawl, climb, reach above shoulder level and twist. * Continuously: stand, walk, lift and/or carry up to 20 lbs. * On a frequent basis, will be required to use both left and right hands for repetitive action such as grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulating.
Requirements
- Associates degree in related technology field and or at least two (2) years’ of progressively responsible experience in network support, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as determined by the Technology Director.
- Experience in lieu of education must include network administration, scripting, enterprise application support, or related infrastructure responsibilities.
- Intermediate understanding of PC hardware, peripherals, and local area network operations.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of network infrastructure and troubleshooting, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, wireless networking, switches, and related technologies.
- Associate level industry certifications from CompTIA, Microsoft, and/or Cisco desired
- Working knowledge of Cisco network devices, including an understanding of Cisco IOS basic commands.
- Ability to read and apply technical service-related information from various sources.
- Possess aptitude to carry out oral and written directions from Technology Director and/or assigned technical lead.
- Adjust to new assignments in a variety of working conditions, including effective task prioritization and independent task completion.
- Proven ability to relate with staff, coworkers, and other end users regarding computer technology.
- Prioritize and assign work orders/tickets/tasks, resolve problems and anticipate tasks to be completed with minimum supervision and guidance.
- Must possess a valid Washington State driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Must furnish one’s own transportation.
- Must be committed to on-going training for the maintenance of technical skills expected.
- Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail to meet deadlines during extremely critical times.
- Must have excellent attendance.
- Other duties as assigned., * Ability to successfully complete a skills assessment and/or practical demonstration if selected for interview
