Job description
The UT AustinSchool of Computing is looking for a talented Graphic & UX Designer to help create polished, intuitive, and engaging digital and print collateral and experiences across our products and marketing. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats-designing user interfaces, creating visual assets, and collaborating closely with programmatic, engineering, and marketing teams., Support visual and UX design for the School of Computing and its associated departments for print and digital assets as well as websites and digital properties., Graphic Design:
- Design high-quality, brand-aligned graphics across a variety of digital and print channels, including: social media graphics, digital signage and campus display screens, print collateral. website graphics, email graphics, event signage and promotional materials, newsletter templates, infographics, merchandise and swag; other marketing and communications materials as needed.
- Ensure all creative work reflects the professionalism, innovation, and visual standards of the School of Computing while adhering to The University of Texas brand guidelines.
- Collaborate with the Social Media & Design Manager to execute creative concepts and campaigns.
- Help establish and maintain visual consistency across the school’s three academic departments.
- Liaise with printers and vendors on production as needed and in concert with the Design Manager
Design Systems and Brand Support:
- Create and maintain editable Canva templates for recurring communications needs, including social media, event signage, presentations, and other marketing materials.
- Help develop reusable design assets and workflows that improve efficiency across the communications team.
- Contribute to the development of a School of Computing brand guide that extends and organizes existing UT brand standards for school-specific use.
- Help build a website design library consisting of standardized page layouts, reusable UI patterns, and modular design elements to improve consistency and streamline future web development
UX & Web Design:
- Design user-friendly webpage mockups and layouts in Figma for new web content and one-off page requests.
- Serve as the design bridge between content creators and web developers by translating content into clear, implementation-ready designs.
- Help define page templates and modular components that improve consistency within Drupal and reduce custom design work over time.
- Collaborate with developers to ensure designs are feasible and implemented accurately., The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length., Employees may be required to report violations of law under Title IX and the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
- At least two years of professional writing and editing experience, preferably in a marketing, communications, or higher education setting.
- Demonstrated ability to write clear, compelling, and audience-appropriate content for a variety of formats, including web copy, press releases, newsletters, and print collateral.
- Strong copyediting and proofreading skills, with close attention to grammar, style, and brand consistency.
- Experience collaborating with designers or other creative partners to align written content with visual assets.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
