Application Support Engineer in Chester

• Support, maintain, and troubleshoot Java-based applications hosted on Linux servers \n

• Develop, enhance, and maintain automation scripts using Python and PowerShell \n

• Install, configure, and deploy software applications \n

• Monitor system performance and investigate production issues \n

• Perform application deployments, patching, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery activities \n

• Create and maintain technical documentation \n

• Monitor and analyse system and application logs \n

• Work closely with infrastructure teams, including Database, Network, and Storage teams, to resolve incidents \n

• Manage incidents through the ticketing system, ensuring timely updates and resolution \n

• Escalate issues to relevant internal teams and third-party vendors when required \n

• Carry out regular health checks, Splunk monitoring, and operational housekeeping tasks \n

• Participate in an on-call support rota \n

• Provide clear communication and updates to stakeholders and leadership teams \n

Our Operations team is looking for a skilled Application Support Engineer to support and maintain real-time communication and automation applications. These applications are Java-based and run on Linux environments.

We’re seeking professionals with strong experience in Linux administration, SQL databases, and automation scripting, who can troubleshoot issues, maintain system stability, and support critical business applications., * Solid Linux administration and troubleshooting skills \n

• Strong SQL and database query-writing skills \n

• Experience with automation scripting using Python and/or PowerShell \n

• Experience with incident management, ticketing systems, and end-user support \n

• Ability to analyse issues, assess business impact, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders \n

• Familiarity with Splunk monitoring and operational support activities \n

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools for reporting and data analysis \n, * Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities \n

• Ability to work effectively with both technical and business users \n

• Experience contributing to process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives \n

• Additional scripting or automation knowledge would be beneficial \n, * Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience \n

• Relevant certifications in Linux, Java, SQL, Python, or PowerShell are advantageous \n
