Job description

Our client seeks a Senior Data Architect to lead a client-facing delivery pod focused on automating manual data preparation for a Fortune 500 retail compliance and sustainability organization. The architect will own end-to-end technical direction, define Databricks architecture on Azure, and deliver a repeatable pattern that the client team can extend. The role includes direct stakeholder engagement, documentation of business rules, and mentoring of an embedded client resource. Also looking for in the trenches coding skills., + Lead technical design and delivery strategy for the engagement.

  • Conduct source-file analysis and requirements gathering with client stakeholders.

  • Design Azure Databricks architecture for multi-format data ingestion and transformation.

  • Document transformation logic and business rules for reuse beyond the engagement.

  • Own the technical backlog and architecture decisions.

  • Drive knowledge transfer and mentor an embedded client resource throughout the engagement.

Requirements

  • Extensive Data Modeling.

  • Hands-on expertise with Databricks and Spark, with emphasis on Azure Databricks.

  • Working knowledge of Azure data services: ADLS Gen2, Azure Data Factory or equivalent, and Azure networking and security fundamentals including private endpoints and Entra ID or RBAC.

  • Proven experience designing pipelines that ingest and normalize multi-format source data such as Excel, PDF, and structured exports (messy data).

  • Experience mentoring or leading technical staff, including client-facing knowledge transfer.

  • Nice to have: Azure or Databricks certifications, consulting or client-delivery experience, exposure to retail, compliance, or sustainability or ESG data, and f
