Job description

  • Pay: $53 - $57hr.
  • 12-month assignment, possible extension based on budget and performance.
  • Seeking a Measurement Systems Software Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and deployment of software for industrial measurement and inspection systems used in manufacturing environments across Corning’s businesses.
  • The role emphasizes C#/.NET software development, hardware integration, and deployment of robust solutions for production use.
  • The ideal candidate is a hands-on, collaborative, and self-driven engineer who is comfortable working closely with imaging hardware and machine vision technologies to deliver reliable, production-ready measurement systems.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software for industrial measurement and machine vision systems, primarily using C#/.NET.
  • Support software communication, coordination, configuration, and data handling across distributed measurement system applications.
  • Support the transfer of technology from development into manufacturing through software build, release, deployment, and system integration activities.
  • Help evaluate, adopt, and apply AI-assisted and agentic coding tools to improve software development workflows, code quality, testing, and engineering efficiency.
  • Contribute to the definition of best practices for incorporating AI development tools into day-to-day software engineering activities in a controlled and effective manner.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including software specifications and support documentation.
  • Train engineering, maintenance, and operations personnel on the use, support, and maintenance of deployed systems.
  • Provide remote and onsite troubleshooting

Requirements

  • Experience developing software applications in C# for production use, system integration, or industrial applications.
  • Looking for someone with experience integrating SW applications with specialized HW systems (inspection/ measurement/ metrology systems, industrial sensors, imaging systems,, image processing systems, machine vision cameras). If we cant find these, then must have experience with system integration, i.e. developing SW to integrate into industrial hardware applications (big focus on C#)
  • Not looking for someone to just sit behind a screen on a computer and is ok, getting on the floor working with the HW/ equipment, supporting integration, etc…
  • Someone who has developed SW to integrate with robotics would be a solid candidate and bring value to the role.
  • If someone can’t travel internationally, it’s not a deal breaker. But would really like someone to be able travel domestically (wll not be often, just for certain deployments / critical.
  • Targeting bachelor’s and 3-5yrs of exp; will need a little more if no degree (HM not really interested in seeing PHd candidates, thinks they are not the best fit here)

Top skills:

  • Exp developing SW to integrate into industrial HW applications (strong preference for mfg and production systems)
  • C#

Desired Experience/Skills:

  • Experience with WPF user interface development frameworks in .NET.
  • Experience with motion control systems, cameras, image acquisition hardware, and integrated imaging platforms.
  • Hands-on experience working with imaging hardware, cameras, measurement equipment, or related instrumentation.
  • Experience applying machine learning or computer vision methods to inspection, classification, or measurement problems.
  • Familiarity with databases, containerization, or high-performance computing environments.
  • Experience evaluating, adopting, or helping define best practices for AI-enabled software development workflows.
  • Knowledge of machine vision and image processing methods such as feature extraction, edge detection, morphology, classification, inspection, and metrology.
  • Experience with machine vision or image processing libraries such as Halcon, OpenCV, LabVIEW, or similar tools.
