Key Objectives

Advanced Analytics (AA) is a core strategic capability for the MedTech Company, enabling data-driven decision-making through insight generation and advancing productivity by simplifying processes through advanced technology.

The Data Scientist serves as a senior analyst and project leader, responsible for delivering advanced analytical solutions, shaping analytical approaches, raising quality standards, and translating complex analyses into actionable business decisions across the organization.

This role reports to the Advanced Analytics Manager.

Responsibilities

• Business Partnership & Strategic Alignment
• Act as a senior analytical partner to internal stakeholders, developing a deep understanding of business strategies, market context, constraints, and decision-making processes.
• Identify high-impact business opportunities and challenges, translating them into clearly defined problem statements, analytical approaches, and success metrics.
• Communicate insights, assumptions, risks, limitations, and recommendations clearly to business stakeholders to support informed decision-making and drive action.
• Project Execution & Cross-functional Collaboration
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including business, technology, and data engineering, to execute data science and AI projects effectively.
• Lead analytical projects end-to-end by coordinating roles, timelines, and dependencies.
• Communicate progress, risks, and issues transparently to stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely decision-making.
• Data Science, AI & Advanced Analytics Delivery
• Design, develop, and deploy advanced analytical and AI models to optimize commercial activities, marketing strategies, and business processes.
• Apply advanced modeling techniques to improve customer experience, revenue growth, targeting effectiveness, and other strategic objectives.
• Establish and govern A/B testing and experimentation frameworks, ensuring statistical validity, interpretability, and compliance with internal standards.
• Data Management, Model Operationalization & Governance
• Evaluate the quality, effectiveness, and limitations of data sources and data collection methods.
• Deliver projects in line with defined internal processes and approval flows.
• Partner with technology and data engineering teams to operationalize models and embed analytics into business workflows.
• Continuously monitor model performance post-deployment and drive optimization to improve accuracy, effectiveness, and business impact.

• Business Savvy - Broad knowledge and understanding of the technical, operational, commercial, and marketing elements of the business and the organization. Ability to make good judgments and quick decisions based on robust business understanding.

Educational Requirements

• MSc or BSc in Computer Science with knowledge of Statistics, Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence, Physics, Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Computational Informatics, Medical Informatics, Computational Biology or related disciplines.
• PhD, MSc, or BSc in a STEM subject with equivalent knowledge is a plus.

Required Experiences And Skills:

Work Experience

• 3+ years of experience in a business-related data science and/or advanced analytics role
• Proven experience in leading cross-functional projects
• Proven track record of driving and delivering data science and AI projects in a business context by leveraging:
• Predictive analytics technologies
• Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning techniques
• Data mining
• Text mining
• Demonstrated ability to drive tangible business outcomes through data-driven insights, * Strong expertise in a wide range of data mining and data analysis methods, including model development and deployment, algorithm development, and simulation design and execution
• Practical working knowledge of machine learning techniques such as regression, decision trees, probabilistic networks, association rules, clustering, neural networks, and Bayesian models
• Skills in text mining and data visualization
• Clear understanding of data analysis workflows and statistical methods, including hypothesis testing and probability modeling

Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in data analysis, machine learning, text mining, and data visualization.
• Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages such as R, Python, or SAS.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database structures.

Business & Professional Capabilities

• Strong project management skills
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts clearly
• Fluency in both English and Japanese

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of healthcare relevant data sets
• Knowledge or experience working in the healthcare industry, * 統計学,機械学習・人工知能,物理学,数学,バイオインフォマティクス,計算情報学,医療情報学,計算生物学,または関連分野の知識を有するコンピュータサイエンス分野の修士号(MSc)または学士号(BSc)
