Job description

We are seeking an SDET / QA Automation Engineer - API & Database Testing to build the automated quality and migration-validation foundation for Ensemble 2.0. This role will validate partner APIs, database outcomes, and end-to-end business workflows while embedding reliable regression coverage into the delivery pipeline. Working closely with Product and Engineering, you will translate complex business rules into maintainable test suites, clear release evidence, and actionable defect reports. The primary responsibility of this role is validating that modernized .NET services produce outcomes consistent with the legacy platform through automated parity testing, regression validation, and data reconciliation activities., * Design, implement, and maintain automated tests for APIs, database outcomes, integration workflows, and other critical business processes.

  • Build reusable API test suites and test utilities that cover validation, authentication, authorization, error handling, versioning, and contract behavior.
  • Validate SQL Server outcomes after workflow execution, including data integrity, transactions, relationships, audit records, and downstream state changes.
  • Create end-to-end automated coverage for partner workflows involving project creation, milestones, invoices, credits, remittance activity, and related operational events.
  • Test reliability behaviors such as retries, replay, idempotency, duplicate prevention, partial failures, timeouts, and asynchronous processing.
  • Translate business rules, acceptance criteria, and production defects into durable regression tests and clearly documented test cases.
  • Implement targeted frontend regression coverage for administrative and support workflows where it adds meaningful release confidence.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and maintain clear, actionable reporting on failures, coverage, and release risk.
  • Reproduce and isolate defects using logs, payloads, database records, monitoring data, and support reports; communicate evidence needed for efficient resolution.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering early in discovery and design to improve testability, identify edge cases, and establish release-readiness criteria.
  • Maintain reliable test data, test-environment assumptions, and supporting documentation for repeatable execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in QA automation, SDET, software testing, or a closely related engineering role.
  • Strong experience testing REST APIs and building automated API test suites with Postman/Newman, Playwright, Pytest, Jest, or comparable tools.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience validating database state, transactions, relationships, and downstream outcomes after workflow execution; SQL Server experience is strongly relevant.
  • Programming or scripting ability in C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or a comparable language sufficient to build maintainable automated tests and utilities.
  • Experience testing business-critical workflows, including positive, negative, boundary, failure-recovery, and regression scenarios.
  • Ability to create test plans, trace acceptance criteria to test coverage, and write concise, reproducible defect reports.
  • Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or comparable tooling.
  • Ability to troubleshoot across logs, API payloads, database records, and automated test results and communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical teammates., * Experience with C#/.NET test frameworks such as xUnit, NUnit, or MSTest and API automation libraries used in the Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Experience with API contract testing, performance or load testing, service virtualization, or production-readiness testing.
  • Experience with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or comparable browser-automation tools for targeted frontend regression coverage.
  • Experience testing asynchronous processing, background workers, queues, retries, duplicate prevention, and eventual-consistency scenarios.
  • Experience validating migrated systems through parallel testing, data reconciliation, workflow comparison, or business-rule verification activities.
  • Experience working in environments where data integrity, migration validation, auditability, and operational continuity are critical. Industry-specific experience is beneficial but not required.
  • ISTQB or a comparable software-testing certification.
