Job description

Based in the company’s Birmingham office, the Change and Release Manager will join an experienced team working within an ITIL framework and be responsible for managing and leading on change and release activities across the business. The Change and Release Manager will be responsible for assisting the Service Managers with delivering change to internal and external web services including the award-winning Planning Portal and Northern Ireland planning service.

What you will be doing…

  • Responsible for the delivery of end-to-end release and change management applying structured methodology and lead change and release management activities across the business.
  • Acting as the daily point of contact for release management across delivery teams, leading the release by setting direction and priorities and resolving conflicts
  • Manage Release risk acting as a focal point for issues.
  • Stakeholder management across technical and operational stakeholders regarding change and release management
  • Continues improvement:

Recommending and implementing process improvements to the current methodologies used

Leading post-release retrospectives.

  • Recommending and implementing process improvements
  • Work across technical teams to review and implement methodology changes based on infrastructure updates
  • Help the organization move toward faster, safer, more predictable releases

  • Coordinate across teams to identify and track contents of releases, ensuring that all quality requirements for the release are met and preparing release notes for Service Managers
  • Manage implementation planning across teams ensuring that preparation, delivery and communication activities are carried out in accordance with the plan
  • Creating release calendars and coordinating with product, QA, and operations.
  • Managing release scope and ensuring teams don’t overload a release.
  • Facilitating go/no-go meetings.
  • Communicating timelines and expectations across department
  • Run release retrospectives and deliver continual improvements to the release capability
  • Liaising with stakeholders and teams for governance and coordination of work
  • Run and manage Change meetings and CABs across the business
  • Plan and implement bringing all changes across the business into the Change Management process.

Requirements

  • Change and Release Management experience
  • DevOps background familiarity
  • Hands on experience
  • Experience working as a release or change manager in an agile development environment, preferably Scrum, delivering change and release management in a fast changing environment with appropriate levels of governance
  • Cross team management to lead the delivery of releases
  • Experience of digital service delivery
  • Experience of continuous delivery
  • Experience of working with an ITSM tool
  • Strong customer service approach and team player

Desirable Criteria

  • Technical experience in development, testing or configuration management
  • Experience of Service Management Tools
  • ITIL experience and qualifications
  • Experience of working with the following:
  • ADO
  • React
  • JavaScript
  • SQL
  • C Sharp
  • Azure Tools
