Job description

As a Snowflake Platform Engineer, you will be a key member of the Data Platform Operations team, providing critical ETL operational support while specializing in Snowflake platform management. You will work alongside operations engineers to ensure the reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency of our data infrastructure, with deep focus on Snowflake administration, governance, and optimization.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as the Snowflake subject matter expert within the Data Platform Operations team, providing specialized expertise for platform architecture, administration, and optimization.
  • Monitor, triage, and resolve production ETL/ELT pipeline incidents and alerts, with emphasis on Snowflake-related issues including query performance, warehouse contention, and data loading failures.
  • Manage Snowflake access controls, role-based security, and data governance policies to ensure compliance with security and privacy requirements.
  • Optimize Snowflake platform performance and costs through proactive monitoring, query optimization, warehouse sizing, resource management, and storage efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and operations team members to troubleshoot data pipeline failures, performance bottlenecks, and data quality issues.
  • Implement and maintain operational standards, monitoring solutions, and runbooks for Snowflake platform management and ETL support. Design and enforce Snowflake best practices including data modeling patterns, security configurations, and cost management strategies.

  • Support the operations team in evaluating, implementing, and maintaining data integration tools, orchestration platforms (Airflow, dbt), and CI/CD processes.
  • Implement data governance frameworks including data quality standards, metadata management, and lineage tracking within Snowflake.
  • Partner with DevOps, security, and data engineering teams to ensure seamless platform operations and continuous improvement.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Technical troubleshooting support?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * 10+ years of experience in data platform operations and ETL support, with at least 5+ years of hands-on Snowflake experience.

  • Deep expertise in Snowflake platform administration including resource monitoring, performance tuning, cost optimization, security management, and account configuration.
  • Strong operational experience supporting production ETL/ELT pipelines, including incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
  • Proven ability to work as part of an operations team, providing on-call support and collaborating on cross-platform issues.
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, including access management, data classification, metadata management, and compliance frameworks.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and scripting for automation, monitoring, and operational tasks.
  • Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, dbt, and CI/CD platforms like Jenkins or GitLab.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their integration with Snowflake.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT patterns, and modern data architecture principles.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and share knowledge with team members.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related IT discipline; or equivalent experience.

The base salary range for this position for all U.S. candidates is $125,000 - $180,000 per year, with eligibility for bonuses, equity grants and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, 401k and paid time off.
