Our goal is to cultivate a culture of belonging that encourages innovation, collaboration, and respect for all team members, ensuring that WWT remains a great place to work for All!, The ATC Data Center Operations Engineer I reports to the Data Center Operations manager and works to maintain functionality and uptime for the ATC Data Centers. They will lead large projects ranging from large customer facing rack builds to new facility implementations or facility refreshes. They are expected to be a SME for all day-to-day operations, installations, structured cabling, in-rack power, asset management processes and be a problem solver. The Engineer I should be knowledgeable about the ATCs use of generators, UPSs, chillers, CRACs, in-row coolers, power bus rails, equipment cabinets, fire systems and other data center equipment as applicable., * Serves as an escalation point for ATC Data Center Operations Technicians and Administrators regarding data center facilities and technical issues.
- Work with corporate properties and vendors to conduct routine and emergency services on a variety of critical systems such as: switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, fire systems, etc.
- Work with leadership and other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize safety, performance, reliability and efficiency.
- Demonstrates an advanced understanding of the ATC monitoring systems as well as all alarms, alerts, and notifications generated. This includes creation of alerts in the monitoring systems and training others on response procedures.
- Assists with datacenter facility operations, maintenance, and housekeeping to maintain a state of ātour readinessā.
- Build and maintain documentation related to all components of the data center operations team.
- Ownership or co-ownership of multiple services including: laptop imaging, console server configuration, inventory management, internet circuit management, in-rack power distribution, ATC printers, etc.
- Understand all procedures and options for providing connectivity including but not limited to existing Layer 1 layout, Layer 2 switch configurations, ISP cross-connects, and other types of ATC connectivity as applicable.
- Advanced troubleshooting of Layer 1 and Layer 2 LAN connectivity issues. Works to reestablish remote access to customer configurations utilizing SSH, Terminal Services/Remote Desktop Services.
- Work with the Fluke CertiFiber Pro system to certify and troubleshoot building to building and Data Center to Data Centers fiber runs and validate testing results before passing to customer.
- Sets the example for daily walkthroughs of our data centers to ensure the environment and facilities are operating at efficient levels.
- Mentor team members to evaluate and identify better ways to resolve issues and define updates to tools and processes.
- Develop requirements and lead the design and build out of new data center facilities.
- Build cross functional relationships and have the ability to influence policies and procedures to improve data center operations.
- Operating systems administration to including, installation, troubleshooting of login, password and connectivity issues of Windows, MacOS and any other Operating systems as requested
- Work with internal hardware teams and vendors to help resolve complex technical issues, maintain high hardware quality levels and influence future design to ensure ease of serviceability.
- Independently gathers requirements and coordinates with ATC Leadership and PM teams for medium and large scale Data Center Engineering tickets and projects
- Influences and builds methodologies, process improvements and documentation for the overall DC Ops team.
- Works with Data Center Operations Leadership to onboard and train Technicians and Administrators.
- Communicates directly with ATC architects and engineers, ATC partners, and any other consumers of ATC services regarding tasks and any other errors encountered during task execution.
- Provides advanced remote hands support for users and owners of physical equipment within the ATC Datacenters.
Requirements
- Knowledge of the interdependencies of data center functions and technologies.
- Knowledge and understanding of datacenter infrastructure components including, CRAC, in-row cooler, chillers, generators, power bus rail systems, UPS.
- Knowledge and understanding of data center industry standards regarding structured cabling and in-rack power.
- Must be able to independently problem-solve issues related to in-rack power, structured cabling, space management and ATC processes.
- Must be able to read, understand and interpret electrical, facility, network and other diagrams.
- Ability to lift between 5-50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to work in temperature-controlled datacenters.
- Ability to handle Walk Ups and Direct Messages regarding tasks.
- Must be able to balance personal workload with assisting newer team members.
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation).
- Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Visio.
- Must be able to multi-task and prioritize workload independently.
- Strong customer service demeanor and interpersonal skills.
- Solid understanding of internet-related technologies and protocols.
- Understanding of how to route and manage structured cabling, copper, fiber cables, and power runs.
- 3-5 years of experience of Data Center or Critical Facilities, vendor relationships and coordination of Preventative Maintenance tracking.
- Industry-related IT or Critical Facilities certifications recommended.
- Advanced understanding of alarms, alerts, and notifications from all monitoring systems.
- Solid understanding of out-of-band management configuration.
- Obtain quotes from vendors for materials related to data center services and builds.

A reasonable estimate of the current hourly pay range for this position is $28.00 to $35.00 per hour. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base pay.
