Senior Java/Kotlin Engineer - Strategic Risk Platform

We are looking for an experienced Java/Kotlin Engineer to join the core engineering team delivering a major, multi-year strategic risk system replatforming programme.

You will work at the heart of the programme, building key components within a highly scalable, risk-tolerant architecture designed to handle very large volumes of data in a demanding production environment.

This is an opportunity to work alongside a high-calibre team of senior engineers while gaining valuable exposure to Equity Derivatives and risk technology., * Design and develop core components of the strategic risk platform using Java and Kotlin.

• Build highly scalable and resilient systems capable of processing very large volumes of data.
• Apply TDD and strong software engineering principles throughout the development lifecycle.
• Develop production-quality code within a high-pressure financial markets environment.
• Contribute to architectural and technical decisions across the replatforming programme.
• Work closely with experienced engineers to deliver critical components of the platform.
• Take ownership of technical challenges and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
• Participate in code reviews, testing and continuous improvement of engineering standards.
• Support the reliability, scalability and maintainability of the platform.

• Strong commercial software engineering experience with Java and/or Kotlin.
• Strong experience with Kotlin is highly desirable.
• Solid understanding and practical experience of TDD.
• Experience building scalable, production-grade systems.
• Previous experience working with very large volumes of data.
• Comfortable working in high-pressure production environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to engineering challenges.
• Ability to work effectively within a highly experienced engineering team., * Experience within investment banking, financial services or capital markets.
• Knowledge of Equity Derivatives and/or risk systems.
• Experience working on large-scale platform replatforming or transformation programmes.
• Experience with distributed and highly scalable architectures.
• Strong interest in learning financial markets and the underlying business domain.
