Job description

  • The role involves supporting data center operations including hardware installation, cabling, fiber termination, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities while ensuring uptime, compliance, and efficient infrastructure operations in a 24/7 datacenter environment., * Support and complete scheduled data center Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs).
  • Perform hardware installation including labeling, power, and network connectivity.
  • Execute break-fix work orders and troubleshooting activities.
  • Manage asset tracking, auditing, and daily ticket documentation.
  • Provide smart-hands support within SLA timelines and on-call coverage.
  • Maintain secure and compliant data center operations.
  • Perform daily inspections of power, cooling, and environmental conditions.
  • Handle equipment receiving, shipping, and RMA processing.
  • Provide vendor escort and support security compliance requirements.
  • Perform general cleaning and maintenance of data center areas.
  • Install and terminate fiber optic and copper cabling including connectors and patch panels.
  • Conduct testing using OTDR, Fluke tools, and perform cable troubleshooting.
  • Perform fusion and mechanical splicing for fiber infrastructure.
  • Calculate and validate fiber loss budgets per standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including work orders, logs, and reports.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 3 5 years of data center or fiber infrastructure experience preferred.
  • Experience in data center cabling, termination, and hardware installation.
  • Strong knowledge of copper and fiber optic infrastructure installation and testing.
  • Experience using tools such as OTDR, Fluke, volt-ohmmeter, tone sets, and DCIM tools.
  • Ability to perform troubleshooting of network and fiber connectivity issues.
  • Ability to work in shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in data center environments.

Experience:

  • Experience in data center operations, MAC activities, and infrastructure support.
  • Experience in fiber installation, testing, and troubleshooting preferred., * Industry certifications such as FOA or Corning preferred.
  • Experience with data center infrastructure management tools.
  • Experience in OSP or confined space fiber splicing environments.
  • Strong understanding of fiber connectors and structured cabling systems.

Skills:

  • Data center operations and RunOps support.
  • Fiber optic installation, termination, and splicing.
  • Copper cabling and structured cabling systems.
  • OTDR, Fluke, and network testing tools.
  • Troubleshooting network and infrastructure issues.
  • Asset management and ticketing systems.
  • DCIM tools and documentation.

Qualification And Education:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 3 5 years of relevant data center/fiber experience preferred.
