Job description
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves working with data, spotting trends and turning complex information into clear, actionable insight.
You’ll play a key role in understanding how prisoners are engaging with education, skills development and employment opportunities, using data to improve participation, attendance, achievement and overall performance.
What you’ll be doing
Analyse data across education, vocational training, work, attendance and allocations.
Turn data into meaningful insights and recommendations that drive service improvement.
Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to monitor key performance indicators.
Identify trends, anomalies, gaps and performance issues and investigate the reasons behind them.
Produce weekly, monthly and quarterly management information for senior leaders and stakeholders.
Analyse attendance, participation and allocation data to identify opportunities to improve engagement.
Work with education providers, prison departments and operational managers to understand their data requirements.
Support performance reviews and provide insight to help improve contractual and operational performance.
Produce ad hoc analysis and reports for the Head of Education, Skills & Work.
Present findings clearly to operational leaders and senior management.
Maintain high standards of data accuracy, integrity, confidentiality and information governance.
Support reporting requirements for Governors, senior leaders, contract managers, Ofsted and HMIP.

You’ll use a range of prison and education management systems, including:
Power BI
Curious
CMS - Curriculum Management System
LRS - Learner Records Service
Requirements
Has experience working in a Data Analyst, MI Analyst, Business Intelligence or similar analytical role.
Is confident analysing large and complex datasets and identifying meaningful trends.
Has strong Power BI experience, ideally including dashboard development and data visualisation.
Has excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on data accuracy and quality.
Can turn complex data into clear, easy-to-understand information for non-technical audiences.
Is confident presenting data, findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
Has strong Excel/data manipulation skills.
Can work independently, manage competing priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
Is naturally curious and enjoys asking “what is the data telling us?”
Understands the importance of confidentiality, data protection and information governance.
