Junior IT Engineer

We are looking for someone who is naturally curious and enjoys solving technical problems to take on the role of Junior IT Engineer. An ideal candidate is someone with a good general technical foundation, an ability to understand how different systems fit together, and the enthusiasm to learn technologies they have not used before. The ability to investigate an unfamiliar problem, research possible solutions and then implement and test a solution is particularly valuable. You would be joining an existing team whose function is the end-to-end delivery of internal IT projects, including development, implementation and maintenance. The team handles a broad variety of tasks, utilising numerous technologies, including:

• Security / authentication / SSL
• Containers - Docker principles and core usage
• Container orchestration - AWS ECS, Docker Compose

The role is very much seen as a training role for areas where the candidate is unfamiliar, but some prior knowledge of one or more of the technologies mentioned above is highly desirable. A broad understanding of common development and deployment techniques is preferable to being a specialist in a single area or language. This is intended to be a long-term position, where a successful candidate can develop towards taking increasing responsibility for the management of internal IT projects. As the role may involve working remotely, attention to detail and the ability to work independently are important.
