Job description
Halford Hoops & Precision Therapy is looking for a part-time React Native / AWS developer to help stabilize, improve, and maintain an existing physical therapy home exercise app.
The app already exists and was originally built as a university capstone project. It includes a React Native / Expo mobile app, a React/Vite admin portal, AWS API Gateway, Python Lambda functions, AWS RDS MySQL database, S3/CloudFront hosting, and GitHub repositories for the mobile and admin apps.
This is not a build-from-scratch project. The first goal is to review the current app, clean up key issues, improve deployment/maintenance processes, and help prepare the app for safe patient testing.
Responsibilities may include:
- Review the existing React Native / Expo mobile app
- Review the React / Vite admin portal
- Review AWS Lambda, API Gateway, RDS MySQL, S3, CloudFront, and related infrastructure
- Help export/organize backend Lambda code into GitHub
- Fix mobile/admin bugs and improve user flow
- Help with Android deployment through Expo EAS / Google Play Console
- Improve testing, documentation, and developer handoff processes
- Review security concerns related to healthcare/patient data
- Communicate clearly and document changes, Please include a short note about your experience with React Native, Expo, AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and RDS/MySQL. If you have worked on healthcare, fitness, PT, or mobile app projects before, please mention that as well., * Have you deployed or helped deploy a mobile app using Expo EAS, Apple App Store Connect, or Google Play Console?
- Are you comfortable working on an existing codebase rather than building an app from scratch?
- Are you available for approximately 5-10 hours per week on a flexible part-time or contract basis?
- Briefly describe your experience with React Native, Expo, AWS, or mobile app development.
- Are you located in Utah or connected to BYU/Utah County?
Requirements

- Expo EAS builds and deployments
- Healthcare/HIPAA awareness is a plus
- Comfortable working with an existing codebase
