PostgreSQL DBA

• Take responsibility for our application PostgreSQL database cluster across multiple environments in cloud and on premises
• Monitor and tune PostgreSQL databases to optimise performance
• Handle migration of data structures across database instances, including offline environments
• Own the data models and manage the lifecycle of data within our Postgres database
• Work closely with data pipeline engineers and data scientists to ingest a wide range of data sources
• Manage security controls across environments, including defining roles, permissions and RLS controls for the data
• Work directly with the infrastructure team to configure installations and manage database patching across all environments
• Work with the development team to define the data model for new data feeds

• PostgreSQL DBA experience with core development, maintenance and performance optimisation
• Strong PostgreSQL database management skills, including performance optimisation, index tuning, execution plan analysis, query optimisation and data partitioning
• Experience with clustering and handling failover strategies
• Experience with extensions such as pgvector, PostGIS and AGE is very useful
• Experience with data modelling, including designing, creating and managing schemas, tables and views to support data models
• Understanding of best practices for storing JSON objects within PostgreSQL
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with developers to define and implement data model requirements
• Experience with backup and recovery, including defining backup strategies based on environment constraints
• BPSS eligibility
• SC clearance as a minimum, with DV as a target
• Must have lived and worked in the UK continuously for the past 5-7 years
