Job description

The Automation and Integration Developer is responsible for designing, developing and integrating automated digital solutions that improve efficiency, user experience, data flow and service quality across Glasgow Kelvin College. Working as part of the Digital Services Team, the post holder will lead the development of low-code and integrated business solutions, primarily using Microsoft 365 and the Microsoft Power Platform, to support continuous improvement, reduce manual workload, and enable effective digital services. The role also supports the successful adoption of digital systems by staff and students through targeted guidance, documentation and collaboration with academic and professional services teams, ensuring that solutions are usable, accessible and aligned with the College’s strategic objectives. o Design, develop and support automated workflows, system integrations and digital solutions using Microsoft 365, Power Platform, SharePoint and related technologies. o Identify opportunities to improve business processes through automation, integration and continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing efficiency, user experience and data quality. o Lead and contribute to the development of digital systems that support teaching, learning and professional services across the College. o Ensure all digital solutions are secure, accessible, compliant and aligned with data protection and information governance requirements. o Collaborate with academic and professional services teams to understand requirements and deliver user-focused digital solutions. o Create documentation, guidance and training materials, providing support and demonstrations to promote successful adoption of new technologies. o Contribute to the ongoing development of key digital platforms including Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Moodle and other staff and student-facing systems. o Monitor emerging technologies and digital trends, supporting innovation, service enhancement and the evaluation of new opportunities. o Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to support digital transformation, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the College.

Requirements

o Educated to HND (SCQF Level 8) or equivalent, or relevant experience in lieu of a formal qualification. o Evidence of continuous professional development. o Willingness to work towards further relevant qualifications where appropriate. Demonstrable knowledge and experience of: o Developing automated and integrated digital solutions using Microsoft 365 and the Microsoft Power Platform. o Using digital tools to streamline administrative and operational processes. o Working with platforms such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Stream and related services. o Supporting users in the adoption of digital systems through guidance, documentation and demonstrations. o Developing digital content and resources to support system use and engagement. o Working collaboratively across teams and services to deliver digital improvements. o Awareness of accessibility, usability and information governance requirements. Skills and Competencies: o Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. o Excellent written and verbal communication skills. o The ability to translate user needs into effective digital solutions. o Confidence working with a wide range of stakeholders, including teaching staff and professional services. o The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively as part of a team. o A proactive and improvement-focused approach to work.
