Job description

  • Manage and maintain production MySQL databases
  • Optimize performance, queries, indexing, and system tuning
  • Design and support replication, clustering, and high availability systems
  • Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies (PITR included)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production database incidents
  • Support schema design and SQL optimization with developers
  • Perform upgrades, patching, and system maintenance
  • Monitor database health and ensure reliability at scale
  • Support on-call production issues when needed

Requirements

Do you have experience in UNIX?, We are hiring a Senior MySQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and optimize production database systems supporting critical applications.

This is a remote contractor role (Guatemala-based only) requiring deep hands-on experience in MySQL performance, scaling, and production support., * 3+ years hands-on MySQL DBA experience in production systems

  • Strong expertise in performance tuning and query optimization
  • Experience with replication, clustering, and HA environments
  • Strong knowledge of backup/recovery and PITR strategies
  • Solid Linux/Unix administration skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues
  • Clear understanding of database architecture and design decisions

Preferred Skills

  • Percona Toolkit
  • Nagios / Zabbix or similar monitoring tools
  • AWS RDS or Google Cloud SQL
  • MySQL certifications
  • Experience in high-traffic systems
