Job description
- Manage and maintain production MySQL databases
- Optimize performance, queries, indexing, and system tuning
- Design and support replication, clustering, and high availability systems
- Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies (PITR included)
- Troubleshoot and resolve production database incidents
- Support schema design and SQL optimization with developers
- Perform upgrades, patching, and system maintenance
- Monitor database health and ensure reliability at scale
- Support on-call production issues when needed
Requirements
Do you have experience in UNIX?, We are hiring a Senior MySQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and optimize production database systems supporting critical applications.
This is a remote contractor role (Guatemala-based only) requiring deep hands-on experience in MySQL performance, scaling, and production support., * 3+ years hands-on MySQL DBA experience in production systems
- Strong expertise in performance tuning and query optimization
- Experience with replication, clustering, and HA environments
- Strong knowledge of backup/recovery and PITR strategies
- Solid Linux/Unix administration skills
- Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues
- Clear understanding of database architecture and design decisions
Preferred Skills
- Percona Toolkit
- Nagios / Zabbix or similar monitoring tools
- AWS RDS or Google Cloud SQL
- MySQL certifications
- Experience in high-traffic systems
