Senior Embedded Diagnostics Engineer

job summary: Seeking an Embedded Diagnostics Engineer for a high growth industrial test equipment manufacturing client in the North Reading, MA area.

The Embedded Diagnostics Engineer would be responsible for writing code that tests, stresses, and validates custom computer hardware to ensure there are no physical or software defects before, during, or after production. Fluency in C (for low-level hardware interaction) alongside Python and Bash (for scripting/automation) is highly desired.

responsibilities:

• Write Low-Level Test Code: Use C to write programs that directly interact with hardware components like CPUs, memory (RAM), storage, and communication buses (UART, SPI, I2C).
• Automate Testing: Use Python and Bash scripts to run these tests automatically in a Linux/Unix environment, saving logs and flagging failures.
• Troubleshoot Hardware Failures: Use physical diagnostic tools (JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) alongside software logs to figure out why a piece of hardware is failing.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Act as the bridge between hardware design engineers, firmware developers, and QA teams.
