Senior Test Engineer

job summary: Seeking a Senior Test Engineer for a high growth electr-optical engineering DoW contractor in the Cypress, CA area.

The Senior Test Engineer would be responsible for optical/infrared hardware, automated test environments (ATE), military standards, and direct technical leadership over budget and schedule. Design, build, and validate ATE and test software (LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++) for electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensor payloads and subassemblies.

responsibilities:

• ATE & Systems Test Design: Design, build, and validate Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and test software (LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++) for electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensor payloads and subassemblies.
• Test Protocol Development: Draft and execute formal Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) and Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) protocols aligned with MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 requirements.
• Hardware Debugging & Root Cause: Perform real-time hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) troubleshooting, signal integrity analysis, and root-cause failure analysis on complex electro-optical test fixtures and hardware.
• Fixture CAD & Prototype Development: Utilize CAD software to design custom test fixtures, interface test adapters, and early prototypes to mitigate technical development risks before production.
• Technical Team Leadership: Lead a multidisciplinary group of test engineers and technicians on high-reliability defense programs, maintaining accountability for on-time and on-budget execution.
• Program Cost & Schedule Input: Provide Basis of Estimate (BOE), non-recurring engineering (NRE) costs, and schedule inputs for design assignments, proposal preparations, and customer design reviews.
• Supplier & Component Evaluation: Specify, evaluate, and qualify sub-tier components, custom optical targets, test instrumentation, and engineering services against program Design-to-Cost (DTC) goals.
