Information Security Officer (Remote)

We are hiring an Information Security Officer to support cybersecurity initiatives across our client’s locations. This position will serve as a trusted security advisor, providing strategic and operational support in cybersecurity engagement, risk management, security planning, incident response, and enterprise security initiatives. This is a remote position - however candidates must live in Eastern Time Zone and, if they live in Maine, must be able to commute to Augusta, ME, twice / month. Please note: No C2C, Subcontracting or Visa Sponsorship of any kind is available for this position. The Information Security Officer will work closely with agency leadership, technical teams, security stakeholders, vendors, and enterprise IT teams to identify risks, strengthen security practices, coordinate cybersecurity activities, and support statewide security priorities. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cybersecurity professional who enjoys working across technical and business teams and wants to have a meaningful impact on the security of critical public services., * Lead Security Coordination: Manage and coordinate cybersecurity program plans, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional initiatives aligned with agency and enterprise priorities.

• Partner with Agencies: Collaborate with agency leadership, technical personnel, business teams, and security stakeholders to support risk management and security planning.
• Coordinate Incident Response: Assist with incident response activities, escalation management, communication planning, and restoration efforts supporting business continuity.
• Support Security Planning: Develop, implement, maintain, and review security plans, procedures, workflows, and program documentation.
• Evaluate Security Gaps: Review technical and business information to identify security gaps, process improvements, and opportunities to strengthen cybersecurity practices.
• Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with technical teams, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to align security priorities, timelines, deliverables, and organizational objectives.
• Support Continuous Improvement: Update cybersecurity documentation, processes, procedures, and program management activities based on lessons learned and evolving security priorities.
• Apply Security Frameworks: Support security practices aligned with NIST guidance and other applicable cybersecurity standards and requirements.
• Communicate Security Priorities: Clearly communicate security risks, recommendations, priorities, and operational considerations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education, training, certifications, and relevant experience may be considered.
• 5+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity, information security, risk management, security governance, compliance, security program support, or related disciplines.
• Experience supporting or applying cybersecurity frameworks, standards, or guidance, including NIST-based security practices.
• Experience working in a leadership, consultative, or cross-functional role involving security stakeholders and business/technical teams., * Understanding of cybersecurity governance, risk management, and security planning.
• Experience building collaborative relationships across business, technical, and leadership stakeholder groups.
• Ability to communicate security risks, priorities, and recommendations to varied audiences.
• Experience supporting incident coordination, security planning initiatives, or enterprise cybersecurity programs.
• Experience with regulatory compliance and security policy implementation.
• Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
